how much would a simple turbo for a acura integra be?

im looking to buy a acura integra and want just a simple turbo to add some hp. how much would it be and what are some other stuff i would need to upgrade so the engine last longer than a month

ANSWER: (You will need all the intake pipe. And exhaust manifold, you need to tap into your oil pan with an intake and return line, you will need an oil pump. and a high flow filter. Their are kits that should come with all of this.Keep in mind when you are using the turbo it creates a TON of heat, the oil is used to cool the bearings... but because of the intense heat, oil breaks down faster than it would when your car was N/A. So change your oil often, 5,000km MAX. 3 month MAX.Also, your turbo only cools when oil is being pumped through it so after your car has been driving for a while you will need to let your car idol for a minute before you turn it off.. otherwise the bearings can get cooked. You can get an idol timer if you don't want to sit in your car for a minute every time you want to turn it off.. An engine works as a hole, so every component is affected by every other component.. if you have better air flow in.. you also need to move all that air out, so you will need a high flow complete exhaust system. And if you really want to get everything out of your turbo's potential, you would also get a larger fuel pump, Fuel rail, injectors, get an MSD ignition modual to control ignition with plugs and wires. Get an ECU tune.. and in a perfect world you would get higher compression rings put in and get a rebuild with better pistons and a port and polished head. but of course we are no longer talking about "bolt on turbo"... but that's because when you get into turbo charging a naturally aspirated car and doing it PROPERLY, it's not a simple bolt on process. Oh, and that doesn't even touch on your tranny or torque converter/clutch.Or suspension, or drive shaft... which can all suffer additional wear from adding HP.)

Just brought a turbo cheap from a junkyard its from a volvo 850 turbo so its a 15g turbo. First of all im wondering will it work for an rsx and estimated how much it will cost to install it if i brought all the parts so just the installation cost.

ANSWER: (If this was a 90's era 850...That should be a mitsubishi turbo not too shabby. Oil cooled too. Will it work? Yeah it should be fine...you just need a manifold with a flange that will match to fit the turbo. Still...you should rebuild that turbo prior to installation. Installation if you bring the parts would be around 800 (maybe more) with the labor involved (likely) and it wouldn't be warranted by the installer; that's with zero fabrication and a canned tune (you provide the tune). It ain't cheap if that's what you're asking. Besides the turbo you're looking at around 1500 in parts costs with decent grade stuff (injectors, intercooler, boost controller, piping, couplers, wastegate, bov).)

ANSWER: (Yes, there's a difference. The engine on the RSX-S is more powerful, with different intake and exhaust designs, so the RSX kit won't work. Shop for something from a reliable manufacturer. If you are looking to spend less than $2,000 you're getting a low quality kit, and don't forget that you're going to need to pay for tuning definitely and installation if you don't know somebody to install it. The price of the kit is the tip of the iceberg. Getting it in and running properly will cost $3-4,000 so just know that now, before you spend some money and get something that can't be used or runs poorly because its done halfway. ANSWER: (Any car can withstand some amount of boost stock, because the car is made with a built-in safety margin. The hard part will be tuning it, as you will probably need a stand alone EMS, which is expensive by itself, and then it would need custom programming so you could actually drive the car. Then the car would also be hard to drive, because you have an open differential and too much torque, which means if you try to accelerate hard in either of the first 2 gears, you will just spin 1 tire and not go much. Most engines will withstand 6-8psi intercooled, so if you figure .5 BAR is about 7.3psi, that should, on a well designed engine, increase power about 50%, or around 80hp more. More than likely you would have to custom fabricate all the parts for the turbo system, including the manifolds, crossover pipe, flange, bracing for the turbo, inlet piping, intercooler brackets, etc.)

The HKS however will require you to buy an aftermarket unit and have it tuned. You could go with something as cheap as a Apex'i VAFC neo, or as expensive as a AEM EMS, or Hydra Nemisis.)

A stronger bottom end(Rods, Crank, Bearings) is not required but will be shortly when that one dies. Really to get the full benefits of a turbo you would need a new camshaft with a suitable profile, and some cylinder head work. Just go for nitrous, learn how to install and use it properly and you will net nearly the same gains in HP and save yourself a few thousand dollars.)
