Infiniti Turbo Kit FAQ

would a turbo on my car damage other parts on my car?
I have a 2006 infiniti g35 coupe and im looking to get a single turbo kit. The car only has 19k miles on it so the engine is in really good shape. My friend told me that if I got the turbo, I would have to buy a new transmission capable of handling the added horsepower (about 100-120 more hp). I know this is true to a certain extent but at least for a few years could I use my same transmission??? Oh, and if it were to damage the transmission are there any other parts that would be damaged and possible in need of replacement??? thanks
ANSWER: (Transmissions have tested torque and speed limits look it up. Where do you get the 100-120hp figure? Are you just making it up? Most turbo kits are delivered with a pcm/ecm or at least a tune and are generally tested on stock cars. So if you're buying it from a reputable mfg (i.e. HKS or Greddy) then the power added shouldn't be a problem for your transmission. However, it still might be a problem for other drivetrain parts (namely Axles). If you're worried about damage you shouldn't spend 3-5k on a turbo kit. If the turbo kit doesn't cost 3-5k then you shouldn't be installing it on your car. And finally...if you're thinking about doing an ebay kit...forget about it...those usually contain about 50% of the parts required (never a pcm/ecm or tune; maybe an intercooler) and the turbos themselves are of 99 cent store quality.)

What is the best year infiniti to put a body kit and a turbo CHARGER and exhaust system in and in to race in?
ANSWER: (OK... If you want a drag racer, go with an LS1 camaro or trans am, more power, cheaper, easier and cheaper to mod. Plus, the stock rods in the VQ35 can only handle around 400 whp before you will run into problems down the road. If you want to do autocross, go for a 350z or a SPORTS CAR, and not a luxury car. I have a G35, and it's similar in performance to a 350Z, but one is more track-based, and the other is more luxury based. Get a Miata, they're excellent autocross cars. Why do you want a body kit? It's not like it's going to make your car any faster. If anything, it'll make it slower, and repairs more expensive. I own a G35 coupe, and it's pretty fast, and I do take it down to the drag strip on occasion. However, if I intend to use the car as a RACE CAR, I wouldn't have gotten a G35... Don't take this the wrong way, but it sound like you have no idea what you're talking about, and that you've been playing too much Need for Speed, and have watched Fast and Furious too many times.)

how much HP would these additions make from a 350z?
Greddy Twin Turbo TD05H-18G Kit, Infiniti G35/ Nissan 350z *Greddy Manifold & Downpipes, *Greddy Dual Intake w/ Greddy Filters + Hard Pipes & Cuplers, *Greddy FMIC + Pipes & Cuplers, *Greddy Dual wastegates *Greddy e-Manage piggy back computer *440CC RC engineering injectors *two Airinx Filter assembelies *Two Cast Turbo Manifolds *Intercooler 3 Row chiller with cast aluminum outlet dual inlet Single outlet *Borla hi-power Cat back exhaust *strup test pipes *AEM Water Methanol Injection, *AEM True Boost Controller? im just asking cuz im looking at one with these parts in it and wondering what it might produce. thank you
ANSWER: (Because the 350 motor has high compression you will not be able to apply high boost. The above modifications can blow up the stock motor and you will not hear the detonation and spark knock. With everything above you should get nearly 500 rear wheel HP. I have worked on several 600+ hp 350z but those cars have huge brake rotors and rebuilt motors for turbocharging and run on 105 octane or higher fuel to make almost 625 rear wheel horsepower. I don't see enough cooling oil and water and if you really want boost get a larger inter cooler. Borla Exhaust is to quiet you may want to rethink Stillen Exhaust or Greddy. Overtaking speed with a 600 hp car is dangerous so be very careful larger wheels bigger brakes and high speed tires are a must.)

whats the diffrence between supercharger kit and a twin turbo kit for a car?
and its for infiniti g35 btw
ANSWER: (Different types of power add ons. The supercharger is usually a belt driven device that bolts to the intake and becomes part of the intake. Its job is to force more air and fuel into the engine. Superchargers take power to make power. Turbos are arguably the best of the power add ons, mostly because they do not take power to make power. They use the exhaust pressure to turn a turbine to produce power. If it were me, I would go with the turbos.)

I have own a 2008...?
okay so I have a 2008 Infiniti G37 coupe. I want to put a turbo in it..or make it a twin turbo. Does anyone know where i can get twin turbo, or turbo kits for cheap from? Currently i have 330 hp and about 270 lbs of torque. How much will my horsepower and torque increase after i put in the turbo? or twin turbos? Thanks for all of your help.
ANSWER: (it's difficult to estimate how much increase in horsepower and torque because there are many different types of turbo with varying outputs. cheap turbos can start from a couple hundred. just make sure you get one that fits your car well or else it will wear your engine fast)

Which of these cars should I buy?
I was wondering if I could get your opinions about which car to buy. I'm a car enthusiast and i can't decide on what to buy. My options are a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe for $13,900, a 2004 Mazda Rx-8 For $13,500, or a 1994 Mazda Rx-7 for $9000. The G35 has every Option, including the Navigation system, upgraded Brembo Brakes and 19 inch sport rims. If i were to buy the G35 I plan on installing the APR wide body Kit and afterwards installing a Turbo kit. The Rx-8 is a GT with the factory navigation system and all options plus a Greedy Intercooled Turbo kit, Borla exhaust system, and full Tien coilover suspension and has 38,000 miles. And finally the Rx-7 has 40,000 Miles, Interior is in perfect condition and is a twin turbo. Those are my choices. I am undecisive and would greatly appreciate your opinions. Thank you.
ANSWER: (From experience on market value after a car leaves its birth place
it already drop down value as soon as its taken from the trucks to the store , now from the store to its original owner and now for you i would guess... stick with the infinity Mazda's have greater after value in market or private sale.Mazdas on the other hand have very poor market value.) -
Greedy TT kit for G35?
I own a 2006 Infiniti G35 coupe 6mt, and i was wondering how long it would take for a full kit placement on the car. I know it takes at least 500 miles to break-in the turbo, but the whole process off doing it, and if so what are the drawbacks? Other than Fuel economy, warrenty, and wear and tear.
ANSWER: (It is just a KIT. all the things you have to do other than installing the kit will really cost you big money. Turbo timers engine control piggy back computers and more emissions. Then what you do with all that extra heat generated larger radatior oil coolers inter coolers. Installation dpending on turbo placement can take as few as 10 hours at 100 an hour or as much as 20 hours if the trans has to be removed. Many times the entire front end of the car has to be taken off. If the car has an automatic trans do not install a turbo unless you want to overheat the gear box.)

Should i sell my SRT-4 and get the Infiniti G35 Coupe??
I own an SRT-4 but i kinda want something a little more professional but dont get me wrong i love my car. I got a stage3 turbo kit with toys + stg3 intercooler and i upgraded my break lines and trans i also have six gauges in the car plus a full bumper kit and side graphics and its at the shop right now getting the DC Sport headers installed i got about 326hp. I know the G35 is only got 280hp but its the design and interior that i really like. The G35 that im going to be buying is only about 17,000.00 I paid 19,000 for my current car and now im selling it for 23,000. I dont know what to do please help!!!
ANSWER: (I doubt you get $23,000 for your highly modified Neon, unless you find a moron with more money than brains. Yeah, get the G35 Coupe and tastefully mod it to be fast yet refined.)
