I love my car, everyone rags on me that I didn't get a GS-X or GS-T though and my husband is really excited about tuning it, (body, performance, and audio for starters), and I was wondering if there are any turbo kits floating around the internet that would be awesome for my car. If there is, who makes it, what does it come with, and how much does it cost? Would it be possible to just take parts off a GS-X or T model and apply it to my vehicle? Any insight regarding enhancing performance would be much appreciated!

ANSWER: (I've wanted to turbo my car too, but after a fair amount of research I realized you can do it, but it's not worth the time and money. You could probably take off parts from another car and stick them on there, but it would require a LOT of labor and fidgeting around to make the part fit. In addition, you would probably have to reprogram the computer (ECU) and feed the turbo to the oil lines and all this other crap. It also makes the car a lot less reliable. I'm almost sure that there are kits for every car with everything included and all the necessary cables, hoses, lines, computers, etc. but they are ridiculously expensive like at least $3500 and up for most cars...probably more. So to answer your question turboing it would take a lot of work, experience, money, and time. Meanwhile though, you can do the usual soft mods. Get a cold air intake, aftermarket exhaust, tune the ECU (helps a lot actually), new camshaft (a little more mild mod). Now, that's just straight-line performance. If you want good steering, suspension, etc. you could also invest different shocks, lower ride height, L.E.D. lights, bigger sway bar, wider sticky tires, etc. Good luck. Have fun!)

Check with 3sx.com for ones that come ready to install on the VR4. An aftermarket BOV is really not needed until you are running more boost than stock. ANSWER: (So you know how the headgasket was blown previously as a result of existing at or near sea level in its naturally aspirated state? Well, that 420a is going to blow even quicker with a turbo on it. In fact, the headgasket might blow when it sees you taking the turbo kit out of the box.All jokes aside, the 420a is a headgasket gobbling pile of ish. Either enjoy it in its stock state, or buy a 4G63 equipped vehicle if you like boost. There are no pros to a turbocharged 420a, they ALWAYS blow up. (I don't want to hear the story about someone's friend's, cousin's brother, who got one to live for 48 hours with a turbocharger, 104 octane leaded race gas, and -5 degrees timing retard per pound of boost.) They just don't like atmospheric pressure, much less anything above and beyond that.We're just trying to save you money, time, and aggravation.)

ANSWER: (If your looking for the top of the line 3000gt, the VR4 is your best bet. They come factory turbo with excellent power and don't forget the AWD (All Wheel Drive). The Base an SL models are more for daily driving but there are some who've consider modifying an seen descent power. The SL model has a benefit, the turbos and essential parts from a VR4 will bolt strait to a SL (this will not work for the Base model) which would create the twin turbo conversion many do, MINUS the AWD that comes with the VR4. But as stated, to make power you need substantial cash flow and excellent automotive shop/mechanic.. adding massive amounts of power to any vehicle comes with it's obstacles an unforeseen problems.)

ANSWER: (you will not be able to get it about 300 without building the engine and that alone will cost you more tha 2k. so unless you change your budget you will not be able to reach your goal of 420hp car. not to mention it is FWD and you will have serious traction problems at 300 let along your desired 420. lastly a good turbo costs somewhere around 1k and that will only leave you 1k for everything else so you budget is a little low for your desired goals. i would suggest revising your goals or saving more money.)

ANSWER: (you will not find a quality kit for under $2,500, and one that has everything you need for under $3,500. That kit in your link is a upgrade for the GST/GSX which is already turboed. When adding a turbo to a non-turbo car there are MANY more parts that are needed. I will however show you a few kits that have EVERYTHING you need. ANSWER: (that kit is GARBAGE, any kit that is under $3,000 for a V6 or V8 will be junk and nothing but problems. You will either have a twin turbo setup with 2 manifolds with piping to both, or a setup as to where there is a collection pipe for a single turbo into the two manifolds creating boost. This kit has no manifolds, downpipe, vehicle specific piping, a junk turbo that will leak or blow in a month, a poorly designed intercooler, no injectors, no fuel pump, no fuel management. All in all you would spend another $3,000 just getting this installed and running, and STILL have problems. Engine difference between a turbo and non-turbo 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer?

The 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 4B11 engine and power confuse me. The Evo X has 291hp whereas the base model DE has 152. OTHER then the turbo and 10.0:1 compression ratio, what makes the 139hp difference? If the only answer i get is TURBO, then your basically saying that i can keep my $14k lancer, buy a $4k turbo kit totalling around $20k plus tax, and beat the $35k Evo X in horsepower and torque? of course off line i'll lose because of the Evo X AWD but the DE is 500-600lbs lighter.This questions is about the difference of the engine not whether or not a turbo DE will beat a Evo X. other then the compression ratio and turbo, what is the difference between the engines.

ANSWER: (the engine block for the evo x and the ra are made with forged internals, bigger fuel injectors, bigger exhaust piping, and an ecu tune for a turbo. the regular 4b11 block that are in the lancers doesnt come with all of that since it is made for be more economy but boosting the lancers would get it somewhat close to the evo's hp but sitll cant match up to it since evo overpowers with so many other factors.)

I have looked and nobody makes a turbo kit for the 3G eclipse. I could take the GST or GSX motor from a 2G and shove it in a 3G if it is possible but the HP would be the same and the 3G weighs more so it would be slow. Is there any way to turbo either a 4 cylinder or V6 3G eclipse? I love the way it looks stock. However I have spent years searching for a 2G Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD and have had no luck. same with the Talon TSI. Which should I get if I had to get one?When I said I haven't had any luck it is because I am looking for one at $2000 and under with some issues. ANSWER: (thats an absolutely TERRIBLE idea-the 2g engines are notorious for crank walk which destroys your motor & takes place in 95% of 2g engines, even those absolutely built with all new parts. no one has for sure solved why or how to fix it, people just enjoy them while they run good & cry when they blow up (and they do).you would be best off finding a 90/91 turbo eclipse/laser/talon with something wrong with it-running good-for $1000, then taking that engine & trans & putting it in yours-this is IF you are set on a swap.a 90/91 eagle talon or plymouth laser awd are not hard to find-5 speed versions that need a new turbo, or need rebuilt, can be bought for $500-600 EASY and then you can spend the extra $1500 on a used head ($100), stainless steel valves ($200), a new turbo ($300-400 for a good one that can make 300-600hp), forged pistons (make sure they are forged) $300-$400, H-beam connecting rods $400, and a used crank for $50-100 bucks.then $200 for a better intercooler & $200 for a good turbo header-$150 for injectors & $100 for a FP-& you are talking @@$2500 total project cost@@ for a 400hp awd turbo car thats BUILT & could push 700hp no problem (but the transmissions start giving after 400hp so if you want to go that route you can pay $2000 for a performance trans rebuild & put an even bigger turbo on it, & say f-it & push 700hp-more than lambos, ferarris, audi v10s, 8.3l viper v10s, etc... only saleen s7 & bugatti veyrons could hang then, & they wouldnt have the sweet awd & low cost.)

ANSWER: (No company in the entire world makes a turbo kit for the 3g that is totaly complete. You will need to look into fuel managment - i.e. fuel pump, sparks, and so on. Most the cheap ass stuff i seen out there just include the turbo, manifold, a lil piping, IC, and wastegates. My guess is you got one off ebay. You need to read up on how to properly boost a 3g eclipse. It takes alot of tuning. The ebay kits are cheap and shitty.)

ANSWER: (Well the SL has the 10:1 compression compared to the 8:1 that the vr4 has, it also has smaller injectors and is missing parts like no Inter coolers or piping etc. Most people who turbocharge their SL to the TT conversion making it a front wheel drive twin turbo. the higher compression makes it a bit snappier but you cant run as much boost. you have to swap out water housing and oil pan and well I will include a link with the list. other options are modifying parts you have and buying aftermarket headers and turbos and a lot of custom fabrication. I would personally talk to the people at dynamic racing (http://www.dynamicracing.com/customer/home.php) 3sx (3sx.com) or IPS motor sports (www.ipsmotorsports.net) and they all are very knowledgeable and can get you what you need. ANSWER: (if you are not racing, you wont need to get a big turbo. so, you wont need to get bigger fuel injectors or anything like that. you wouldn't need an aftermarket computer, you might need to get it tuned, but maybe not. depends on the size turbo you get. because you can get a smaller turbo, and only run 6-8 lbs of boost. get an intercooler to mount in the front behind the bumper, get a blow-off valve and be sure to the vent it back into the exhaust, or it wont run. get some nice guages in the interior, a boost controller. you'll be all set.turbo kits are everywhere online, so be sure to search for a kit that will get you everything you need, including oil lines.)
