i just got a 89 nissan 300zx turbo v6 could anyone help me find rebuild kits and other cheap parts?
i need to find cheap parts for it i want to completely rebuild it im gonna put in new rings an seals new cam and a better turbo bigger lifters and new valves i just dont know were to start or a good place to order parts so if anybody could help that would be great
ANSWER: (John Paul, you again are showing your lack of knowledge on Z31's. I suggest you don't answer these types of questions anymore. The misinformation you spread is terrible and damaging to the owners. Richard, first you will want to start reading a few Z31 specific sites that I will post below. Our cars have huge potential. Parts are a little harder to come by than most other sports cars but when its all over you will have a true one of a kind car as almost everyone's setup is different.. For a basic rebuild, tear the engine down and verify what size bearings and rings you need. Spend the money on OEM Nissan bearings and rings. Cleavite is a good alternative as well. An Advance Auto full engine gasket kit is fine with exception of the head gaskets. Go ahead and get a set of OEM Nissan head gaskets. You will thank yourself for that later. Ferrea sells over sized valves for our engines. There are no oversized lifters but you will need new ones to go with new cams. OEM is fine as is Cleavite. For Cams, Schnieder and Isky have nice grinds available to us for decent prices. Schnieder has excellent 110lb double valve springs available for $100. A must for revving over 6K RPM. You will want to add an intercooler. There is a hard to find Greddy IC kit for 1200 bucks. I personally would just buy a nice IC core and some piping. That's what I did with mine. Cost me 400 bucks total. Certified Muffler offers a nice 3in turbo back exhaust system for our cars. Either with a hi-flow cat or catless. I'd recommend investing in NIStune or finding someone selling a JWT 4-BAR kit. A larger turbo is going to demand more fuel. The stock fuel system is not good for much above 12psi on the stock turbo. Another good upgrade would be a gutted upper plenum. You can find these on ebay for 150-400 dollars. You can pair that up with a 240SX 60mm throttlebody for nice results. Realistically with Cams, valves, springs, IC, gutted plenum, larger turbo and 3in turbo back with good tuning you can achieve over 400whp on the stock bottom end. You can use forged connecting rods and pistons for the 300ZX Twinturbo in our engines. They fit just fine. With forged internals you can push these engines to the limits of 600+ hp but that will require porting and polishing of the heads. But first I recommend you read as much as you can on these sites. Sign up read through them, ask questions and look at other peoples builds. Also check the classifieds on the sites. Lots of good parts for sale for cheap. Feel free to send me a message and I'll share pictures and pointers from my build with you. Good luck with it!)

Im about to twin turbo my Z what should I replace to handle the added power?
I've got a 2006 Nissan 350Z, I'm about to buy a Greddy Twin Turbo kit for it. What should I replace/upgrade to handle the extra power that the turbo adds?
ANSWER: (Because the 350z has high compression pistons and combustion chambers you may need to completely rebuild the motor before turbos go on. Second cooling system upgrades bigger oil cooler and radiator. Plastic composite drive shaft needs to be replaced too. Bigger wheels tires and large brakes so you can control the power and stop. Hood with extra vents cut into it so heat can be removed from the engine compartment. Several 350 turbocharged car I have worked on needed special oil pans for turbo oil return tubes. Automatic trans cars do not turbocharge very well trans gets in the way heat issues. Any A/C hoses along the left side exhaust manifolds need to be insulated. You start with a kit then you have to re-engineer the entire car. Good Luck)

what are the best turbo kit brands?
I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx non turbo. It already has full Megan racing stainless steel headers and dual exhaust. I would like to turbo it, but am unsure as to what brand to look at. Also, i am uncertain if i should turbo or twin turbo. What are the advantages and disadvantages to both?
ANSWER: (Go ahead, put a turbocharger on your car, because that will prove that you know more than the paid engineers who built the machine in the first place, right? The last word in turbochargers is Garrett. End of story. The 1990 Nissan 300ZX (Z32) should either be fitted with a Nissan specific spec turbocharger. The VG30DETT engine in theory can be mated with two Garrett T25s, but you'll need to replace the head gaskets, and the valve seats to cope with the extra combustion chamber pressures. Fitting turbochargers is not like playing with Lego. You can not merely put bits on and pull them off, or else you will look like a tool.)

Turbo Kits for 1995 Nissan 300zx?
Hello, I'm interested in buying a turbo kit for my 300zx, I would just like to get some advice from people with 300zx's. would a universal turbo work fine? I understand that there is no space since the engine is big and takes up almost all the space in the engine bay. Also, should i just get a good turbo for $3,000 or a cheap one for $1,000? What about rebuilt turbos?...would I have to change other stuff like pistons, maybe crankshaft, valves etc. any information or advice would be helpfiul, just make sure it relates to turbo kits for 300zx lol thanks a bunch guys
ANSWER: (well i can tell u right now. get what you pay for haha u want a cheap one then ur gonna get a cheap one. if i were to buy them i would go for just buying a new and good one. that way u knw that ur not gonna have a cheap one that could potentially be garbage power or go out 10000miles down the road haha. is your nissan already turboed? if not ur gonna have to do ALOT of swapping from ecu to engine harness to pretty much everything. u wouldnt have to change any of that stuff unless u were gonna go for more boost and power. ur stock engine with all stock internals can handle up to 12 to 13 psi so u wouldnt need to switch them (of course thats assuming its a tt already). if you want more information about things there is a huge forum of guys just talkin about pure 300zx stuff. its called www.twinturbo.net they answer pretty much everything. if you need more sites on turbo kits go to www.conceptzperformance.com or www.z1motorsports.com thats where i do all my shopping. Good Luck to you!!)

converting my nissan silvia s13 to turbo?
i have a silvia s13 ca18de and want to convert it to turbo. these are the two turbo kits im looking at. im wondering if its an easy job to do, if all the parts i need are in these two kits and which one would be better? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SILVIA-S13-180sx-CA18DET-T04E-TURBO-KIT-400HP-/370214116932?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56327b1e44#ht_2797wt_939 and http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SILVIA-S13-180SX-CA18DET-300HP-TURBO-UPGRADE-KIT-/160417828586?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2559a5ceea#ht_1502wt_939
ANSWER: (Well all say that u need to change engine but i understand if u want to make the project as for my opinion the second one looks better also more expensive but i recommend u that start with stock parts those are more cheaper and if u screw up well it will be more cheaper u will need:1st sketch the engine bay in order to make more room for the parts (look on the web photos of NA and turbo engines to see the differences)2nd the list of parts needed A) Plumbing: Hoses, tubes, vacuum tubes(all plastic and rubber) gaskets B) Manifolds: Intake, Exhaust (don't chop and adapt your stock ones, for turbo engines those are kinda reinforced to support the extra and i mean extra heat both in and out) C) Intercooler: u can get an side mount stock one its tiny but it works or a front mounted one that is custom this part is vital so don't skip it D) Turbo: ahh the good part well the stock turbo for the ca18 is the Garrett T25 thrust bearing if stock it will give u 7 to 10 psi of boost it will do the job and is cheap and reliable if u don't live in the 7000 rpm red line but for more power well bigger and more modern turbos are the option too much brands for telling but there is the Garrett gt28 ball bearing the one in the s15 silvia also there is more modern and powerful from different companies (HKS, Greedy, Stillen, etc) for those its vital to put a big front intercooler also notice that if u get one kind of turbo be sure that u get the intake and exhaust manifolds for THAT turbo. E) Oil & Water lines: the turbo shares oil with the engine so do a little research bout the topic for the water line too also u will need a better oil cooler F) Fueling: Injectors this it well catchy but u must remember that NA and turbo injectors are different so... fuel pump a better one is a mustwith PATIENCE and enthusiasm u will make it good luck james)

Is there a turbo kit for the nissan z24 2.4L Motor?
It is in my 83 nissan 720 truck
ANSWER: (I would honestly do some research but you might be in luck. If your 2.4L is the same motor that came in the Nissan 240SX the there are definitely turbo kits out there because the 2.4 in the 240SX's are indeed out of a nissan truck. Which one it came from is honestly out of my knowledge. But if yours is indeed the same as the 240 then look for the engine code KA24DE and all your turbo prayers will be ansered.)

What to look for when buying a turbo charger for a nissan 350z?
Alright so i'm getting a 2003 Nissan 350z in August and I was wondering if anyone could give me like a guide for buying a complete turbo kit. I know its a lot but if you could give me a rundown of every part I need and any engine mods, etc that i would have to add on to getting a turbo. I'm a beginner at all of this stuff so the more information the better. O also what are some average turbo brands (im not looking to spend anywhere over id say 5k for everything...well unless i need too)Thanks, Bryce
ANSWER: (If you want to save money, then your best bet would be to not turbocharge it. Just doing some basic research, here's what I found on one website (horsepowerfreaks.com):GReddy twin-turbo kit, with eManage for fuel delivery: $5435.59GReddy twin-turbo kit, bigger turbos and intercooler and options for fuel: $7565.00HKS GT-RS (disco potato) twin turbo kit:$5670.00Power Enterprise complete twin turbo kit:$8977.76Also, from doing a google search of companies that I've seen with turbo kits for the 350Z:dyno-comp.comAPS Twin Turbo System: $5995 (they also offer a single turbo system, but I can't find the price)gtmpower.com GTM APS Twin turbo Stage 1 System Installed $9995gtmpower.com APS Single Turbo System: $5595turbo-kits.comTurbonetics single turbo kit:$4995SFR Single Turbo Kit:$6899.99 complete The other option would be to get a supercharger.Vortech supercharger: $5945.95 (from vortech)stillen positive displacement supercharger:$5328HKS Rotrex Supercharger:$6799 Either way, forced induction for a 350Z is expensive. I guess I'm spoiled that I can build a supercharger setup for less than $2000 for my mustang.)

I have a 1996 Nissan 240sx with 145k miles on it. Would it be smart to add a turbo kit to it?
Or should I just do an engine swap for one that has 30k miles on it? I need opinions, what would you do....thanks again.
ANSWER: (Trust me...if you add a turbo at this mileage if will more than likely self-destruct the first time you step hard on the throttle. Go with the engine swap or rebuild what you have. Again, think hard before you add a turbo to the existing engine!)

How much would it cost to twin turbo a Z32 300zx?
I have an N/A1989 Nissan 300zx Z32, and i would like to twin turbo it, but how much (rough estimate) would it cost for a mechanic/specialist shop to put in two turbos into it. Or is it more cost effective to swap the motor out for a TT motor, and then buy all the other parts like intercooler kits ect.
ANSWER: (Around $10,000)

Where can i find a good quality turbo kit for my 2002 2.5L Nissan Altima? POST #2?
Not enough answers in the first post Im looking for a turbo kit for my 2002 2.5L nissan altima. I dont want some crappy quality e-bay kit, i want something legit but cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know any websites i can buy it from or car shops?i dont need someone to tell me that my 4 cyl is weak and not worth upgrading. i already own an 05 altima SE-R, and a T72 Supradont forget my altima is a 2002 2.5L 4cyl QR25DE engine. its not a V6. if you post a link for a turbo kit it should fit exactly for my car. i've been looking around and cant find any legit kit for my car. thanks for all the help.Ive already fixed up my other 2 cars.
ANSWER: (well if you have an 05 altima se-r why not upgrade that instead? the vq35de is already powerful as it is. thats the 350z motor btw though the sentra se-r has the same qr25de motor it has major modding potential. so finding a good turbo shouldnt be too hard to find i already posted my link on your rpeviosu post, i wont post it again)

How much would it cost me to put a turbo kit in my 2008 nissan altima 2.5?
ANSWER: (2.5 liter motor with forced induction might not last. How close the cooling fans are to the exhaust might be a real problem room for intercoolers. With lots of cash almost anything is possable. Are you sure you want to have another 10,000 tied up in a sedan when you could sell out and buy a 370z sports car?)

where can i find a good quality turbo kit for my 2002 2.5L Nissan Altima?
Im looking for a turbo kit for my 2002 2.5L nissan altima. I dont want some crappy quality e-bay kit, i want something legit but cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know any websites i can buy it from or car shops?
ANSWER: (i own a 2003 altima and have wondered the same thing myself. the 2.5 is called the QR25DE motor. They do have turbo kits available as this is the same motor used in the nissan sentra se-r spec-v produced between 2002 and now. in my opinion the QR25DE motor has amazing potential. i have found several on different sites which i'll post here http://www.importeast.ca/powertech/turbokits/altimakit/altimakit.html the first url lists a turbo kit for $4300 http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Custom/Turbo-Charger-Kit/Altima-QR25-Turbocharger-Kit/549013/ the second is for $1650 you can find some good deals on ebay if you look hard enough you will find the right price and a great quality kit you, as well as i, should have bought the V6 altima, then we would not need a turbo kit (we could buy one for the vq35de motor and have a 4 door supercar if we wanted to though how sweet would that be?))

where can i go online to find a turbo&manifold for my Nissan Z24 2.4L Motor? 1984?
i am looking for a turbo kit, used will do.sorry mine has been bored 0.75 over high performance cam, bearings, oversize radiator w/electric fans, electric water pump.oil pump and pushes 120 with stock transmission configuration.. 220psi per cylinder. and putting out 160HP right now. has throttle body injection off Toyota, 2"straight pipe to 5" stacks. so i am now looking for a turbo. i have a friend who has one on his in a Suzuki samurai with the exact motor pushing close to 200HP!!!!
ANSWER: (No one developed a turbo kit for your little 100 horsepower carbureted engine, because it is not a good engine, and even if it was, nobody wanted to make their Nissan mini-pickups fast. If you want to increase power, get yourself an engine swap. You can fit a KA24E or a VG30E engine into your truck, but honestly it isn't worth the cost of the swap. Just get yourself a newer pickup that already had one of these engines as an option.)

Nissan 350z APS Twin Turbo Kit Help?
Hey, I'm looking at the APS Twin Turbo Kit for a Nissan 350z and was wondering if you can still use aftermarket headers with it, or if there are any restrictions on what you can add to the car after installing the turbos? Thanks!
ANSWER: (you cant use headers because the turbo manifold is the headers basically. also youll need a turbo timer, and if u wanna have complete control a manual boost contoller, might i reccomend checking out STS turbos to. aps is known for heatsoak and alot of my gto forum guys who have them are breaking down alot. good luck with your decision, oh and one more thing, your drive train wont hold the power so your gunna need these, new trans, drive shaft, axles etc. it gets pricy.)

to get a INTERCOOLER KIT on my s13 nissan silvia will it need to be turbo?
thanks im restoring one roght now lol it relly fun its not turbo yet but i wanna do the outside frist ...but cant i put one in a non turbo
ANSWER: (You can put an intercooler in a non turbo... Completely useless. But you can do it. An intercooler is designed to cool the air going into an engine because when air is compressed in a turbocharger it becomes incredibly hot. Without the turbo, your not doing anything constructive for the car.)

Can i install a turbo on a R33 2.5l GTS (non turbo) nissan Skyline?
Hi i'd like to know how to install a turbo on my skyline, my goal is to get about 400-500hp out of it. There's some things i need to know like: what kind of turbo should i use, and where on the net could i find it? what other parts should i change to keep the engine from breaking under the turbo's pressure? Does a turbo kit come with all there parts included? Thanks for the help, could anyone give me an estimate on how much this could cost. Ow yeah, and please dont tell me to sell this one and buy a turbo version
ANSWER: (Yes it can be done i have seen a few na skyline conversions to turbo's.I believe you will not see silly power figures as it will be a smaller turbo that will be added, but still some good figures, others go for the engine conversion route.Best advice for this conversion is to join the forums and ask on there to see what other people have done. Basic run down on parts is the turbo, recirculate valve, turbo manifold and ecu. http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/index.php http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/forums/index.php http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forums.html http://www.hkskylineclub.com/index1.htm)

Are those cheap $500-$800 turbo kits on E-bay, junk?
I want to turbo my 93 nissan 240sx, nothing hardcore. I know what I need to make the setup work but I'm wondering if the cheap kit will screw me. I know my other option is to save for a long time and by a brand name expensive kit, $1900-$2800.
ANSWER: (Most of the time those turbo kits on ebay really only come with a random assortment of bent tubing, a knock-off turbo, and some silicone couplers. They are missing A LOT of parts. One thing to keep in mind is to never try skimp on the turbo itself, because that is the heart of the whole operation. If you have some decent fabrication skills, and you know what parts are missing. you could probably make it work. Instead of turbocharging your current motor, have you considered swapping in an engine that is already turbocharged? The sr20det is a turbocharged engine that was offered in Japan in the 240sx, and is a relatively easy swap to perform, although it might end up costing more that an expensive turbo kit for your current engine, which I'm assuming is a ka24de. Just remember that if you cheap out on a turbo kit now, it will end up costing you more down the road, so your best bet is to either save up for a legitimate turbo kit, or save up for a faster car.)

I wanted to know if I could just buy a turbo manifold and turbocharger and some other small things. Would that work. Thanks Thanks, but what components? Thanks, sorry I didn't check earlier.
ANSWER: (***EDIT for chriss useless post - Please visit www.ka-t.org They can show you what you need to do to turbo your car. There are 100's of guys running completly stock engines up to 400hp. "Componets" I also have no idea what this guy is talking about. I have a 97 240sx at 300hp right now for 4 years. I beat on it every day and I can't get it to blow up. ***** You don't have to buy a kit. If you know what makes up a turbo car then just piece the parts together. There is only one website you need... www.ka-t.org)

Where can I find a turbo manifold for my Nissan?
I'm looking for a turbo manifold for my 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 VQ35DE engine but, can't seem to find one individually for my T/3 T/4 turbo. The complete kits cost as much as $5,000.00 +.
ANSWER: (Your best bet at the moment is going to be to search Ebay or other online auction/classified listings. Since the Altima never came with a factory turbo option, you will have a hard time finding just an exhaust manifold for it. You could also have one custom made for your car by a reputable shop that knows what they are doing. Drop by www.nicoclub.com and check out the Altima forums. There is one member who has a turbo Altima coupe and in his write up he details what he did with his car. Might give you some insight as to what needs to be done.)

nissan 300zx twin turbo?
Ok, I have become obsessed with the nissan 300zx twin turbo. I have gone to z1 and ultimatez just to see what i would do with the car. I have checked ebay, craiggslist, and cars.com everyday that's how obsessed i have become. I plan to put on an exhaust z1 chip air intake bov with hard pipes and fuel injector kit. I pretty much know everything about the car except this. How is the reliability? I dont want to spend 2,500 in a car thats 13-18 years old then the engine goes up? If you owned one or have one just give me some tips please. Those arent the only things i plan to do thats just for 6 months after i own i dont know what i want to do after that. Its probably gonna have anywhere from 90 - 130,000 miles on it. Some of the ones that i see have had a eng. I am gonna try n get one with little to no mods. Ny help would be great. thanx
ANSWER: (They are very reliable, however general maintance is expensive. The parts aren't cheap either. Since your "Obsessed" make sure you learn the in/out of the car. Lean to do most of the repair work yourself, it will save you tons of money in the long run. If you get one get atleast a 91. The 90 had some casting issues with the heads causing the Crank angle sensor to fail. Another well know problem for the Z's are the high pressure power steering hose. They leak and if not taken care of immediately it will cause the alternator the fail. So far they seem unreliable, but that's not the case. These is just common issues. Another thing is cam seals leaking oil. This is also very common, but it you follow the proper maint sched you should be ok. I have a 93 that I bought in 2000. I haven't have any problems that won't do to normal wear and tear. To get a lot of maint tips, go to http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/tech/tech.aspxhere is a list of step by step maint tips with pics and if you look around there are tons of post and ppl willing to help. I also have to tell the Z1 rocks, but they are a little on the expensive side. Any way good luck and welcome the The Z World.)

Does turbo kits work on automatic transmission cars for example a 2005 nissan altima??
ANSWER: (As long as the extra power from the turbo does not put too much torque through it, it should be fine. Limit boost to a sensible level and the trans should be okay. You may want to change converters to a high stall type for increased performance and add a cooler to help it last.)

Nissan 350z turbo?
I want a turbo kit for my nismo 35z but i dont know what brand i should go with....or where to order from. help plz.
ANSWER: (Keep in mind that more than 7 psi boost your going to have to lower your compression that means motor rebuild. Most single turbo systems can use the stock compression. Adding boost opens another can of worms more fuel larger injectors intercoolers and oil coolers and electronic boost controllers. Nismo Z was rare enough to become a classic if you can keep the front and rear bumpercovers and spoilers from being curb dammaged.)
