Pontiac Firebird Formula After Market Parts?
ok its a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula im guna get a Turbo Charger Kit but i would like to know some other thing that will make my car awesome, faster, better in any way i don't want to rebuild the entire engine but im good with mechanics stuff so any ideasim guna be racing with this car some. but mostly just get to work and backhttp://biturl.me/r2o9a/ yea it dont go to anything dude
ANSWER: (That motor will easily take up to 7 lbs of boost without any problems, beyond that and you're going to have to start upgrading as the other indicated.)

where can I find a turbo kit for a pontiac 400 engine?
anyone know of a website that sells a complete single turbo kit for a '68 pontiac 400 engine?
ANSWER: (Sailor is pretty much right, go with a Supercharger, but also be aware that the engine must be built to handle a Supercharger or a Turbo, the bottom end of the motor must be built to handle it. ie: steel crank, forged pistons, heavy duty rods, etc...You can't just slap it on there and expect a stock engine to handle it. Be prepared to shell out about $10,000 on a good motor and the SuperCharger set up, $15,000 for a turbo set up if done right. I know several people who have started projects like this with all kinds of money and enthusiasm, 5 years later, the cars are still sitting in the garage not running.)

Do people consider the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix a grandma car, or somewhat of a sports car?
I currently own a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix (3.8L V6,) and I'm thinking about upgrading the hell out of it. I'm going to be stuck with the car for a long time, so I want to make the best of it. I really enjoy driving it, but I still plan on pumping out at least 300-400 horsepower out of her. I currently only have a K&N cold-air intake installed, but plan to get some headers, dual cat-back exhaust, and maybe a supercharger or twin-turbo kit. Any other ideas on what I can do to maximize this car's potential would be greatly appreciated.
ANSWER: (Tony hit the nail on the head.........why would you want to spend that kind of money on a 3.8? Trade it in on a GXP, problem solved.)

what engines could be swapped with 1999 Pontiac Grand Am for more speed and AWD? READ DETAILS BEFORE ANSWERING?
i'm looking to do an engine swap to gain more horsepower/speed. i'm a bit new with doing work on cars, tuning cars, and a bit of racing cars. i'm looking to take my all stock 1999 Pontiac Grand Am se and put a stronger/faster engine in it. my thoughts are for something where i could switch to AWD. the Subaru Impreza WRX STI engine and transmission comes to mind first for me. i'm looking to drag or street race my car. any ideas/recommendations/advice/etc.for a high top speed/acceleration would be greatly appreciated. i know Grand Am's aren't exactly a "top dog" in the racing/tuning world, but i'm looking for mine to set a new standard with mine. OTHER NOTES/IDEAS: i have removed my backseats as a start towards reducing weight. swap out exhaust with a 1999 Grand Am GT for the 4 pipes instead of 2. add a Flowmaster 80 or Borla(i need to research it more) exhaust kit. then with whatever engine i end up getting to replace my current one, adding a twin turbo/supercharger/turbo(whatever fits). lowering the suspension. new higher performance brakes. I have already been told that i would need a new "chip" (ECU) for the new engine along with new gages to keep up with the new gear.
ANSWER: (Why would you want to do that? You'd have to re-engineer the entire car. Especially since you say you are "new" to working on cars, you couldn't possibly have the mechanical knowledge or fabrication skills to do this. You would essentially be building a car from scratch. And why would you want to transplant a Subaru powerplant into a Pontiac? There are no points of commonality to start with. A GM 3800 would make more sense, most of the wiring would hook up, but it would still be a MAJOR project. Why not just buy a Subaru, it would be much cheaper than what you are planning.zxc090)

is this a good or a bad trade?
ok i have a 1990 nissan 300zx 5 speed non turbo. it has a stillen body kit, greddy exhaust, cold air intake, short thro shifter, racing clutch, nayan shifter knob, jet performance v-force plus monitor. midnight blue with metal flake. hid headlights, nismo taillights. sunny zr rated low profile tires. i want $8,200 for it. now a guy offered to trade me a 2005 pontiac gto plus i have to pay $1,500. it is automatic. it has aftermarket taillights, a cold air intake, exhaust ram air hood. red with black racing stripes. thats all i know for sure his car has. he wanted $11,500 for it straight up. he wants to trade because hes going to college and cant pay for gas so he wants to down grade. is it worth it for me or not?
ANSWER: (You haven't said what condition the cars are in but if both cars are equal condition then I would take the trade. Ironically I have driven both of these cars (Ex-girl friends uncle had a 1990 Nissan 300zx and my brother owns a 2005 Pontiac GTO). The GTO is B@LLS fast and very quick....It'll beat the Nissan 300 any day and it will have a higher resale value if you decide to sell/trade it in. The GTO's aren't pieces of CR@P either, they just never had a segment of car buyers that caught on. My brother has done some pretty neat stuff to his GTO and it's quicker/faster than stock and it gets pretty good fuel economy for a Corvette V-8.)

which car would be better to get?
I have a 1990 nissan 300zx 5 speed with quite a few things done to it and im looking to sell it so that i can get either a 1990-1996 nissan 300zx twin turbo or a 2000-2002 pontiac trans am. ok so out of the two which would be a better buy? better car for the money and easier to make fast? If i get the T/A then it will have to be manual, ram air, with a motor no smaller than a 5.7 v8 on account thats what T/A's come out with. it would be nice if it had exhaust and and intake but i could put that on if need be. along with bolt ons like headers and what not. i would really like a ws6 T/A or even a firehawk. but i could go without the firehawk. now on the nissan it has to be twin turbo and came out of the factory twin turbo. i perfer a manual but automatics fine. im not too picky bout what id like on this one but i wouldnt mind having an cold air intake and an exhaust. body kit would be cool and other after market stuff but i dont really care if it doesnt have it. which would be faster?how fast would they be?how much would they cost?how much would it cost to make them faster?and which would i have more fun with?
ANSWER: (The 300zx is the better refine car, but too modify it, it'll cost. The TA will be easier to modify and can be made faster than the 300zx.To me, I rather have the TA because it's newer and it seem like you want to modify it. Very hard to work on the 300zx.)

Does anyone know or has anyone tried this twin turbo kit on a 1998-2002 Firebird or Trans Am?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PONTIAC-SMALL-BLOCK-TWIN-TOP-TURBO-KIT-FIREBIRD-PHEONIX-/390226402894?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Submodel:Trans+Am&hash=item5adb4e5e4e#ht_7132wt_1032 It seems to cheap to work. All Firebirds and Trans Ams I've seen with a turbo have used the STS turbo kit.
ANSWER: (What Tony said... Thats for a gen I small block, uni fit kit. The headers will not bolt up to your LS1 engineThey don't fit too good with a gen I engine. Turbo setups are custom. We built a TT system for my dad's '82 firebird and used the same headers as in that kit, but with diff turbos and other parts. Those headers put the turbos right against the rad., so we cut the core support and moved the rad. more towards nose of car Heres the mockup in a 86 camaro parts car http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2288152180041290424lqrreCHere's after cutting core support and moving rad. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2784079230041290424QZRyUQHeres one of the 1st designs of cold plumbing in his firebird, up and running, boosting 8 psi http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2787588940041290424neOryLHeres the second cold side setup.. 1993 Pontiac Sunbird SE 3.1 V6?
I just bought a 93 sunbird 3.1, 5 speed for 300$, For such a cheap car it is in great condition and well kept. I have many questions about it though. First being, it has an internal slave cylinder in the clutch, priced by mechanics and auto shops they want 700+ to replace it, Is it true you have to pull the engine to be able to get to it? it looks like i could just take of driver side wheel, brakes, axle and get to it with out pulling the engine? would it be worth doing myself to save money? i consider myself mechanically inclined. So thats my major question at this time. My other questions are for interest and pleasure, how limited am i in aftermarket parts? what body parts will fit it? do they have aftermarket halo headlights that will fit it with out much fabrication? or perhaps GTS headlight covers? Body kits? will the 3.4 engines from later pontiac models fit in it? will the 3.1 turbo charged engine from a grand prix fit in it? exhaust options? Body kit options? and best question of them all..is there a website where i can learn all this my own with out troubling everyone? I did see a website with a picture of a guy with a sunbird extremely modded out, he gave a link to a website where enthusiasts have modded out there pontiacs of various makes and models, for the life of me i cant find that website to ask the person with the sunbird where he got all his parts and for tips and tricks, it wasnt the "pontiacforum" either. Hope to get some advice, i will appreciate it. I just want to have a lot of fun with this car, i plan on taking good care of it and want it to look and run its best for a long while.
ANSWER: (The 3.1 is one of my favorite engines that GM designed. First off, your clutch. I work at a transmission shop. To replace that slave cylinder, I support your engine with an engine hanger up top, raise the vehicle on a lift and drop the subframe off of the car. Then I unbolt the transmission, axles, etc and remove the transmission. In short, without a lift, you would have to pull it from the top, which is NO fun, and yes, you would have to pull the engine. As for performance, the best thing I did, was to upgrade the ignition coil packs (all 3) with MSD coil packs. They are pricey, but you get about 17% more spark. I noticed better intial acceleration by using these as well as a cold air intake system. You can get the pontiac grand am GT dual exhaust, but it sounds raspy in my opinion, and is not worth the 5 hp gain you "might" see. As for body kits, I doubt you will find much. Look at AndysAutoSports online and see if he has something, if not, then it probably doesnt exist. I hope this helps. Oh and watch out for the notorious leaky intake manifold gaskets, they were made of plastic at the factory and you can get a good felpro steel replacement. Have fun!)

pontiac sunfire turbo?
iv been drivein the last 4 years n my car is kinda dull its a 04 pontiac sunfire 4 dr automatic iv looked at a couple sites that had a few turbos but it was ither for a manual tranny or just the turbo im look in for the kit it has a 2.2l ecotec witch tops out at 140hp my snomobile has 150hp im wonderin if a supercharger will be better or a turbo kit and can u give me a link to the site if u can find one and plese help me thanks
ANSWER: (smaller engines have tough times with superchargers so your best bet would be a turbo kit.On another note, Pontiac Sunfires are not really worth trying to tune up... they're economy cars after all.)

How much should I sell my car for?
I have a 1979 Red pontiac formula firebird for sale, It is in exxcellent condition. This is what it features....400 Cubic Inch small block, Board 60 over, edel brock 4 barrel, 373 Rear, 400 Turbo Transmission with shift kit, All new tires, exhaust, and Front End. No rust or Cancer, 64,000 miles. I dont know how much to sell iot for!! Help!
ANSWER: (It I were you try to store that in the garage, under cover, drive it just enough to keep everything working and the seals lubed. www.nada.com is a price guide, the 400 added 15 % average retail was 12,363. and high retail is 17,940. I liked that body style that year, you can check classic car trader there were a couple one for 15 grand and change, and another with 47541 miles for 17,995 which supports nada, somewhat, there was a third one back east for 4,995 but not much info, I also went to hemmings motor news, this is a website that has an online magazine, as well as a hard copy magazine and they also offer about a bazillion other car related things so type Hemmings motor news in your web search box, I did not find a 79 formula firebird, I did find some other makes and models, I know already the 400 in yours makes it a little more rare, this is good, the low mileage is a good selling point is too, you may want to minimize as far as advertising the bored 60 over, I understand what it means, and having a full sized gas sucking suburban I have had slow luck trying to sell, some people get scared of at performance enhancing features, and some one who is looking for a bone stock firebird will pass on this, any how, you have a winner, now you need to find another winner, (with a pocket full of 100 dollar bills) who cannot liveWITHOUTT YOUR FIREBIRD!!!, AS I WAS SAYING IN THE BEGINNING, before I interrupted myself, in 15 to 20 years, the big block birds will be rare, so good luck do what you have to do. hope this helps some)

Can you Turbo a stock engine?
i have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT. I want to put a turbo on this car and im going to try and do it myself... gotta learn somehow, thought it would be better to practice on an older car before i bought a new one. Anyways, i was wondering if you can turbo a stock motor? Or is there something you have to add or change before installing a turbo kit. Also, does anyone have a recommended brand or type of turbo kit for this car? Thanks a lot for any help you can provide
ANSWER: (two things you need when putting a turbo on any engine. 1)you need to have the ability to reprogram the computer or get a kit with a specific program for your car.2)you will need to upgrade your cat system along with the programing. Most kits will come with pretty good instructions if you want to do it your self. Is not difficult but it does require quite a bit of time. The worse part is tuning the engine computer. Search videos on youtube to see how is done and what you will need to do. GOOD LUCK...........)

ANSWER: (uh should a had a V8....trade what you got for what you want,,, dont waste you money,,,,you can put 5K into that car and maybe not get the performance [and reliability] of stock v8)

whats the maximum horsepower im going to get out of a pontiac lemans 400 ci engine?
to all the gear heads who know alot about muscle cars what is the maximum horsepower i can get out of a 78 lemans v8 400 ci? i already have the 400 ci turbo trans with a shift kit on it but i havent made the effort to change the rear end to positive traction and put the gears and either a 9 or ten bolt on? what is somethings i can do to increase power comming from the engine without putting a blower on or supercharging it if thats possible? should i put new pistons and headers on or that doesnt really matter?
ANSWER: (Sam is right, also focus on the valve train and cam. Changing pistons to higher compression will make more HP, but will require premium fuel and in extreme situations racing fuel. If I remember correctly the 400 is a small block Pontiac motor. 300HP should be very easy and streetable.)
-
where can i find a turbo or supercharger kit for my 1997 pontiac grand am gt 3.1 v6?
ANSWER: (www.60degreev6.com is a way better location for these questions. there are lots of guys on that forum that have done tons of mods and probably know not only where to get a turbo, but also any problems with installing it. I doubt there will be a kit for it because the demand to boost that car isn't really all that high, so it'll be a custome job.good luck.)

Would my '77 Trans Am be worth more stock or with Nitros?
Just bought a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am today. Am thinking of fixing it up a little and selling it. It has been customized to the previous owner's tastes. It has a high-end paint job on it with kind of some ghost stripes and all of the original Pontiac decals were removed. It has a turbo add on, a Nitros Oxide system with a tank in the trunk, Fancy American Racing rims--big in back, smaller in front. New tires. Custom-made wooden console with guages and switches. Close-ratio 4 speed tranny, & it's geared real low. Runs really nice. The Nitros hasn't been used in 10 years. (the gentleman that had it passed away and his wife just finally sold the car) Has 51K miles--looks original mileage to me. T-tops, etc. Should I work with what I have? Or should I buy a set of snowflake rims, get rid of the Nitros set-up, Put on a decal kit with the big bird on the hood, etc. Which would be most cost-effective when reselling in the spring?
ANSWER: (from the sounds of it there is more to returning this car into stock condition than meets the eye. I honestly don't think you have enough time between now and the spring to bring that car back to the condition you expect.Indeed, a 77 Trans Am will bring a lot of money in unadulterated stock condition. There were too many made, and there are too many that are cut up and destroyed by "previous owners' tastes".Your best bet is to sell it as it is and move on to the next project. I have a feeling that it will cost you a lot of money (eat into your expected profit margin) to bring it back into shape. The decal set is available through Year One, and so are the original style rims. However, that is probably the least of your problems in trying to bring the car back. The console is a tricky item that maybe Year One currently stocks. No 70's car ever came with wooden anything. Well, maybe the Jaguars and Rolls Royces, but that's about it.)

can i use pistons for a 2.2 LN2 engine in a 2.2 ecotec engine?
i have a 2007 pontiac G5 and i'm adding some performance parts to it, including a turbo kit. I want to lower the compression ratio. I found some dish pistons for a 2.2 LN2 engine. Could i use these in the 2.2 ecotec engine?
ANSWER: (as long as they dont interfere with valves i dont see a problem.)
-
what should a full turbo kit include?
I'm curious to what the "turbo kits" actually include. I have an 04 Pontiac Vibe base 1.8 auto. This is a link to one of the kits i've found online( they are all the same package ), does it have EVERYTHNG i'll need for a professional installation??http://www.yourhotcar.com/prod/Custom/Performance_Parts/Turbo_Charger_Kit/1ZZFE_MOTOR_Turbo_Kit/548977/Whats a good piggy back system? Are they universal, and should i let the professional buy it instead of me buying it. I don't know a lot about it.
ANSWER: (It might have everything you need to install it, but it is not a bolt on kit. The pipes will have to be cut to fit and I bet you will have to fab your own mounts for the intercooler and most of the other parts. The turbocharger is most likely a Chinese built turbo which might last a year if you're lucky. The kit comes with no engine managment and that fuel regulator will do nothing. To do the job right will cost well above $3,000. That kit is being peddled by scum to fools. Don't be a fool.)

2005 Pontiac Grand Am GT help?
Okay well I just got my Grand Am, took it to the mechanic and everything checked out good, so I have a 2005 Grand Am GT with 84,000 miles and running perfectly, So my questions are...Is there any place to get good performance and visual parts? What color should I paint it?Is a body kit worth it?Turbo or supercharge it?Should I go for the muscle sound, or tuner sound? (Seeing as it is a American made car I was thinking muscle...?)And if anyone has any advise or suggestions to give I would appreciate it much!
ANSWER: (i'm going to answer the questions in the order that you've asked.yes. there are a few good places on the web. the link i'm going to give you will give you all of that infopersonally i like black. but its a b*tch to keep clean. but if you can keep it clean, no color looks better. mines red, and that would be my 2nd choicepersonally i'm yet to see a body kit for the grand am that i like. so i dont think so. but if you find one you like go for it. there is only 1 company i know of that made turbos for the GA. and that was donkeypunch.com. they stopped making them probably in 05 or 06. so you might see one floating around on a forum, but thats rare. rsm makes a supercharger kit for the GA, but its junk, and has a ton of problems. you have to replace a lot of parts and hardware to make it worth a damn. and its $3900. so i dont think the rsm is worth it. eaton made 13 superchargers for the grand am. and there the best boost ever made for the car. but again theres only 13 made in the whole world. once in a great while one will pop up on a forum, but its very very rare.you've be hard pressed to get a tuner sound out of the motor. though its just a v6 its sounds ballsy. here the youtube vid if mine. it has headers and borla cat back exhaust.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_kVTWUcejIheres the link i was talking about. read it, theres a ton of great info.http://grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78706good luck)

people who REALLY know about car parts nd pontiac gto's?
oki have a 2005 automatic gtoit comes wit a stock of 400 horse powerif i install a cold air intake. a supercharger kit, and a twin turbo. and mayb a throttle body spacerplease helpa simple it woodnt work would of done fine guys. nd gta who the fuck are you. go get laid. your probly some loser with no fucking friends you just sit on here nd try to be top dog all day with all those awnsers nd points and shit you got. GET A LIFE. doushe bag
ANSWER: (I imagine your gto already has cold air intake from the factory. Turbo chargers are extremely hard to install and maintain as are superchargers. Either would be real nice if you had $5000 to drop to get it done in a reputable shop.. The throttle body spacer might help a little but I kind of look at it like it would be a cheap addition for the manufacturer to create the throttle body of the correct thickness to start with so I am suspicious of much gain there. I would say that for about $1000 you can take it to a good exhaust shop and have some good headers installed and get them to look over the rest of the exhaust. It may need an x-pipe or some such. And GTA is the manager of an oil change shop at Advance Auto Parts.)

1999 Pontiac Sunfire?
Ok so i have a 99 sunfire 2.2L non-ecotec automatic tranny and i found a complete turbo-kit for $3500 is it worth it?... and also whats a good exhaust setup? right now i have a no-name brand header no cat with a ebay muffler...
ANSWER: (I myself wouldn't waste my money on this. Take the $3500 and trade in your sunfire for something that has a V8 or that is already fast. There are a lot of cars out there that are fast from the manufacture. Ford mustangs, older corvettes, import cars, etc. Or take the $3500 and put it down on a nice motorcycle. Best of luck.)

Looking for a site......................................................?
Looking for a site to buy a Pontiac G8 3.5L engine Supercharger or Turbo charger kit. Anyone know of any?
ANSWER: (Jim is dumb, the GT doesn't have 425 hp, the GT has 355 hp and the GXP has 415 hp. But that's besides the point. I'm not positive where you could get a supercharger or turbocharger, but I know a place that will be able to tell you: http://www.g8board.com/forums/ They could tell you pretty much everything you need to know about the car.)

How much should i sell my 68' Pontiac Firebird for?
It needs work on the body and its primer black. It has no interior but it is free of rust and is ready for interior. The entire interior is coated with rust preventive sealer, and has seats but no panels or carpet. Brand New Tires and refurbished wheels. The suspension is great, ive put in thousands of dollars in the suspension. It has all new Bushings, Eldelbrock IAS Shocks all around, Hoskis sports coil springs and sway bars. The Engine is a Chevy 350 and is in great shape, very low milage, and has thousands of dollars in add on's, it is pushing 400hp when it run right. Transmision is a Turbo 350 with shifter kit. The only reason im selling it is that i cant afford to restore it, and the engine just isnt running smooth for some reason. I think its a combustion problem! How much should i ask for it?
ANSWER: (Well considering it needs lots of work. No longer has the correct make engine in it and the one in it now is not running correctly. The money you have spent on it really is not an issue. You might get lucky and get $5000 for it,but I doubt it.)

how much horsepower does my grand am have?
its a 99 grand am se, but ive got a 04 grand am gt engine in it, everything else is stock (im thinkin of getting a supercharger on it and mabe a turbo but i wanna know if its even worth it) also this is the supercharger im concidering gettin, if i get it how much horse power will i have then, give me the before and after horsepowerhttp://www.andysautosport.com/pontiac/1999_2005_grand_am/performance/turbos_and_superchargers/supercharger_kits/rsm_racing/rsmr00043290.htmlwoops lol typo, ye i know i can only have one of them, i jus havent decided which one if any, i really wanna buy a chevy nova and jus build it up
ANSWER: (dude a supercharger for 5,000$ its not worth it for a 99' grand am. JUst get you a 1999 grand prix GTP. It is already super charged equiped with 240 horse stock. it has wide track body with better handling. It is bigger but it is worth it. They go 0-60 faster than a 5.0 mustang gt. THey are fast, i have one. The grand am has 175 horse. Usually it would feel like 150 horse. the super charger will add about 40 HP. bringing you to about 215 horse. Less than the GTP. U can get a GTP for 5,000$ or less. If u have in ur head to keep the grand am than i would just suggest getting on ebay and look up grand am super charger. u will find one. It is brand new only about 30$. Its a cheaper super charger, almost more like a cold air intake with K and N filter, but it will give u around 20 HP. I would go with that, maybe have a nice exhaust system about 10HP increase cost about 200$. u could also get different stuff off ebay that is cheap, just small up grades that would add 2-5 HP here and there just look into it, but wouldnt spend 5000 on somthing thats worth more than the car. Good luck bro)

Should I get a pontiac GTO(2004 and Up)?
Yea ive read the specs on it and its stock power is pretty amazing, I also have the money to buy a whole turbo kit for it. Im pretty sure it will be a beast on the road with the turbo kit. Unless theres a better car to get than a GTO?thats in the gto price range of course
ANSWER: (I own two GTO's. An '04 and '06 and couldn't imagine driving anything else now. For the price it isn't a bad way to go (I would be looking in the 13-15 thousand range for a 2004). If you get the six speed gas mileage isn't bad (17-18 city driving and 25 or so highway) auto is about 15 city 20 highway. Not to mention you see mustangs on every corner. 2004 production totals 15740 GTOs compared to 141,907 mustangs. If you have any questions about the GTO check out www.ls1gto.com A lot of good info there.)

I need help with a car! And I need your opinion!?
I'm currently searching for an older car(not antique, something in the mid 90's) that be bought cheap, but also has a lot of mods made for it. I want to buy a car that I can sup up myself. I would like to do things like put on body kits, instal turbo kits, maybe buy carbon hood or carbon wing for it. If you have any suggestions on some cheap cars that I could make VERY nice, please let me know. Currently, I am looking at a 96 pontiac grand am. I actually really like grand ams, especially the 2000. I've looked at some websites, and I found a few nice body kits for the car, and a nice wing and performance parts, but I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the car. Thanks to all those help!
ANSWER: (96 Grand Am can be purchased at a reasonable price, but reliability is questionable.Cable to the gas door need to be replaced - $75Coolant Leak, had to replace the gaskets (lots of labor) - $475Replace rotors - $200 Constant brake problems; minor engine problemsac compressor, alternator, clutch master cylinder, and a water pump.unless your good with tools I'd avoid this car low cost, sports cars try a Acura CL 98, Acura Integra 98-99)

ANY CAR GUYS OR GALS??? I am trying to add horse power to my Trans am!!!!?
Howdy. I am a struggling student who owns a bone stock 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am(6 speed). The car is in great shape, but has 90000 miles. I am looking for ways to increase the horse power. Basically I will have about three thousand dollars to work with for now, but I want the mods I put on now to be the pillar for future mods like a twin turbo kit. I don't know much about cars, but I have thought of headers, cam, full exhaust, a stroker kit, better ecu(computer chip),ddd....I don't think I have enough to add boost(turbo, supercharger) because I would have to pay install and beef up the engine. I am very ify about nitrous for right now too. There is a guy with a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am ls1 and he hits 0-60 in 5 sec flat....I want to smoke him and be able to keep up with the big boys too. I know it is not loads of cash, but if you guys could tell me what ITEMS, the PRICES, and the HORSEPOWER gains that I can expect. Please also inculde estimates for the price of install for the item
ANSWER: (Your best bet is to get some Hot Rod magazines and start reading. That way, you'll know what you're getting yourself into.)
