What is the better BOV for my 1987 Porsche 944 turbo?
I have a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo that i am going to put speed force racing intercooler pipes and a bov on. In the kit i can get several different bov's however i am trying to decide between the HKS Super Sequential bov and the Greddy Type-s bov. Can anybody tell me which of these will give me a slightly louder and more traditional bov sound and also if one will perform better? I also heard that the super sequential bov responds quicker since the Greddy is a push-type. Can anybody confirl this? I dont know if if is relevent but if it is i currently put out about 15 pis of boost.
ANSWER: (The stock bypass valve can handle 15 PSI just fine. In fact, I know people who run 18 PSI with the stock bypass valve. Frankly, a BOV is a bad idea for most 944 setups because the AFM (and even the MAF sensor on cars with the conversion) is located upstream from the valve. If the vented air is not recirculated, the engine experiences a transient rich condition that fouls spark plugs and contaminates catalytic converters. A BOV does not offer any performance advantage over the stock bypass valve; all it does is make more noise and cause issues with the mixture. If you really want a more durable setup, look into Lindsey Racing's billet bypass valve:http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Porsche/BYPASSVALVE/99-0609-100.html It's a bolt-in replacement for stock and won't cause the mixture problems that a BOV will. You won't get the noise, but the car will run better.)

Where to do Porsche 996 Turbo RWD Conversion?
Who does RWD conversions? Are there any kits? How much?
ANSWER: (I've heard some owners speak of this, though no first hand accounts. Not sure if the pros of such a change outweigh the negatives, but going from AWD to RWD does not require any new parts, just the removal of existing ones, and should be able to be done by any skilled Porsche mechanic. Roughly: Disconnect the output shaft on the transmission from the driveshaft. Disconnect the driveshaft from the front differential. Disconnect the cv joints from the front differential. Remove the front differential. Separate the cv joints from the wheel hubs (you will need to retain the hubs for PSM to still operate on the front wheels).)

Does the Agency Power Turbo kit include the turbos?
for the Porsche 996 turbo
ANSWER: (There does not seem to be any turbos offered for the Porsche on the website... most of their products for the 996 Turbo appear to be air intakes, Y pipes, and intercoolers. A better question might involve what you are hoping to achieve, and the best way to get there? For product specifics, the company should be able to provide you a parts list for their products.)

bolt on jeep 4.0 dohc 24v head 300 hp kit for $3k, would you buy one?
i found a guy making 24v dohc kits for the straight 6 4.0 engine that basically turns your tired old ohv 12 valve jeep motor into the equivalent of porsche or supra engine with as much hp as a stock vortec 454 & as much torque as a 350 or 360 magnum-with 5-10 mpg better depending on how you drive it. this all sounds swell to me and it would be very nice considering it comes with a custom intake manifold & short ram air filter, head, all the gaskets & hookups, & headers to match, and it would be SWEET to have the power to take on an evo or z28/mustang (the 90's jeep 4.0's are that light, look it up) & then tell them i dont nos, supercharger, or turbo, & that my mpg is better than theres & my all motor engine is better-BUT $3k! what do you guys think? just for the sake of arguement if i can sit in on & watch em run one of these on a dyno-is it worth the price?this comes with an ecu chip to completely remap the ecu as well as the larger required injectors, the fp to run it all, the intake manifold, header, timing equipment etc...the dohc is setup with timing gears & a chain setup like that of a 99+ dodge 2.7 dohc v6 where the cams are chained together & then only 1 of the cams on each side needs to be turned. also the original head/cam assembly gets removed & blocked off (most of it)
ANSWER: (i have the same engine and i wouldn't put something like that in my jeep if i didn't know much about it. I mean people have come up with some really creative idea for more horse power and more torque but it sounds too good to be true. so IMO i wouldn't do it, 3K is cheap for something so extravagant, i'd really watch what i got into!)

I have a question about the F1 Style Paddle Shifter?
I'm going to be buying a Porsche Cayenne Turbo(used)& am planning on making some changes & upgrades to it & my girlfriend give me the idea that I should buy a F1 Paddle shifter kit for my cayenne because her dad just bought the ML 63 AMG 4Matic & got the chance to drive it & thought it would be a great addition to the upgrades I plan to do with my Cayenne Turbo this weekend I'll get the chance to try it out & see if I'd like it but wanted to ask can it be done to the cayenne & if so should it be?
ANSWER: (Holy run on sentence......What exactly are you asking then? Yes it can be done, but like the first answer, it will cost a bit of money, especially if the car doesn't already have it. Having paddle shifters will never be as fun as a manual car... For actuall prices, contact a Porsche dealer, they can tell you better than any of us can!)

How can I stop a Porsche Cayenne Turbo?
Hey folks, I have a pre-owned Porsche Cayenne Turbo (2004) with Gemballa suspension lowering kit and ECU (500+ hp). Everything is so fine with the car except one simple detail... The fact that it does not STOP. I have got changed all four brake rotors, brake pads, checked the hydraulics, replaced every damn liquid in the car, but the stopping power is just not there. When I hit the road, the brakes are ok, but when I hit the brakes a bit harder, they just start to fade with heat enough to do a blacksmith's work. Now the brakes are still there, but the pedal feels like there were Ronnie Coleman pushing it back and the hydraulics power-assist does not want to assist me in this. Personally, I don't like using the cockpit as a bodybuilding center... The service says it is my "driving style" that causes this. Well, I want to ask what Porsche thought in building a car that goes well over 275km/h but does not return to 0km/h in an equal amount of time. Now, is there a way to stop it?TYAdding a third party brake mod is not option for me. Wasn't it Porsche who boasted all the way about their "legendary brake-fade test"? If my problem is not related to a mechanical failure or something, and if this brake system is just what Porsche AG offers to its customers, then I would definitely go for another brand and replace the car. I just want to be sure that there is nothing I can do to get it repaired.
ANSWER: (The brakes on the Cayenne are quite capable, and from personal experience they have not only adequate stopping ability, but handle heat quite well. First off, is the service you refer to the Porsche dealer or experienced Porsche mechanics? If not, have someone that genuinely knows these cars to take a look. If they are, then I would tend to believe that the problem is your driving style. I personally have driven along mountain roads, stuck behind people that clearly don't use their brakes correctly judging from when I see the brake lights. If you are feeding too much heat into the brakes through improper and/or inefficient use, there may still be some measures you can take to minimize this, but the simpler route would be to learn better use of the brakes (it'll be less costly and more effective). As far as things you can do to battle fade... a new brake kit might help, though I am not sure this will get you much improvement as the stock brakes on the Cayenne Turbo are quite large as is, and if they are overheating, moving to a slightly larger brake that will handle a slight amount more heat will most likely not get you anymore. IN fact, given the size of the stock brakes, if you are having fade, it is most likely due to too much heat in the fluid or pads... so: What you might consider is a brake fluid with a higher boiling point. Castrol SRF is the best in this area at the moment, though quite costly and I think it has a slightly spongy feel under hard use. Motul is a close second, with ATE Blue coming in next (which would be a definite upgrade and is probably the most readily available of the three). Likewise, moving away from stock pads... most of your more aggressive pad compounds are formulated to handle more heat. Look for something that maintains a good CF at high temperatures (though make sure they have a good CF at lower temps as well). Lastly, taking the dust shields off will add more cooling.)

New 4 Seater Car that keeps up with Z06?
I'm going to buy a 4 seater that competes with the Z06. I don't care about luxury or comfort at all I want something unique, new, and somewhat dependable. I don't intend on paying over MSRP. Yes, the car must have a seating capacity of 4 even if the back seat passengers would never want to ride in the back seat again. Saleen S302E - Downsides: average person sees Saleen as only a mustang with a body kit, and it's resemblance to the base S281 is identical save the badging, under the hood, and underneath the car. Nissan GT-R - Downsides: Not fully tested yet in my opinion. There aren't many cars that have that kind of power with a good front engine rear based AWD. May become common. Porsche 911 Turbo - I like this car, but they look too much like the base 911 and any problems after the warranty would cost me about 20k. It's price is the most I would pay for a car. If there are any other cars other than BMW or MB not listed that keep up with the Z06 suggest them please. Thank you.

WHAT UPGRADES DOES A USED PORSCHE BOXSTER NEED? im not so bright with these tune ups?
i might get a Porsche boxster used one like a 2001-02 model don’t know if its s or just stock but its used. i wanted the car since 8th grade and now i think i might get it. not to jinx it i just had a few simple questions. the car being real old would be a lot different interims of appearance and performance compare to a 2008 model. the old ones liek the ones im going to get looks a bit feminine but i saw on youtube a boxster with a i believe ti said a aero kit or something it made it look real nice and i wanted one like that1. so what is that about and how much is it where can i get it? being old again it lacks performance and power. I’ve heard of stuff like turbo charges supercharged twin turbo. what are all of those and which goes best in a boxster and how expensive are they? honestly i don’t want to turn my Porsche into a hummer guzzler so how will the the gas consumption change with these performance upgrades? which is best for a porsche boxster again? 3rd is should I change the mufflers to sound better? Again I always thought the sounds you hear from a super powerful car are because of the power it gives off rather than a fake tune up in the back to just make it sound like theres power. What’s your input on that and should I and how do I do it? ok well honestly my parents will buy me the ac rive been working since 7th grade and have saved up 9 grand which will all go towards the upgrades. My parents are totally ok with it my father says I will spend all this money and get bored of it the next day but I doubt it. I know there will be people cussing me out here telling me to get an education or your too young………please leave that out of this I know I’m more blessed than most teens but again I’m a blue collar boy trying to enjoy a bit of the white collar life. Thank you. Do you think I have enough for all my upgrade desires? How much will it all be and what else do you think a Porsche boxster will need upgrading on? Thank you again.
ANSWER: (These are the tuner companies that specialize in Porsche:RUFTechArtGemballa9ffSpeedArtImolaStrosekGo on those websites to see the parts for the boxster. They have bodykits, wings, wheels, turbo kits, supercharger kits, suspension parts, exhaust systems, and performance chips. The Aerokit is made by Porsche. Ask them for one. I have driven the older boxster, and it was very fun to drive and felt faster than it actually was. The internet said the 0-60 time was 6.0 seconds, but it felt much faster. It is very slippery in rain so be careful.A 2000-2002 Boxster usually costs $20,000.It is true that it looks a little girly, but who cares. It is an amazing car. I would get one if I had the money.)

Thank you. Do you think I have enough for all my upgrade desires? How much will it all be and what else do you think a Porsche boxster will need upgrading on? Thank you again.
ANSWER: (Aerokit: There are a number of aerokits available for Boxsters from different manufacturers. Depending on the kit, the costs will be different... but in all likelyhood, it will be at least a few thousand dollars. Expect at list an equal amount for a good body shop to fit it and paint it. And also, as with all Porsches, expect an upgrade like this to make the car less valuable on resale, so be certain it is something you REALLY want. And stick to known, reputable brands (Ruf, TechArt, etc), as no-name kits, while cheap, while seldom have good fit, and most likely were never tested in wind tunnels, meaning you will be hurting the car's performance. Performance: lacking is a relative term... I've driven the original 2.5L Boxsters at track events and found them to be fantastic cars in completely stock form. With a skilled hand behind the wheel, they will turn very competitive lap times (and from my point of view, I actually find the earlier Boxsters to be funner to drive because they seem to be a purer sports car). But if you are looking to add capability to the car, the best places to look (after the driver) are the basic setup and the car's suspension (focus on the improving the Boxster's strengths). A good setup in terms of alignment and corner balancing will yield great results, as will suspension improvements like adjustable anti-roll bars. If you are looking for more power, there are some minor things that can be done, but the fact is, to do forced induction and "do it right," you would save money simply looking at a newer Boxster S. The "cheap" route of just adding a supercharger or such will be expensive, leave you with a less reliable car that needs other upgrades (suspension, brakes) to handle the added power, and be worth much much much less on resale... to do an upgrade like this correctly to keep the car's strengths, and reliability would likely run well more than you would spend buying the car in the first place. Muffler: There are a number of options... as to which sounds best, that will ultimately be a matter of personal choice. Stay to known premium brands, or custom made options from known Porsche tuners though, and you'll be more likely to wind up with one that is well made, trims some weight over the stock unit, and has a nice sound. Your financial situation will not cover the kind of upgrades you are looking for... and while Boxster prices make them attractive, you should also be aware that repair costs on this car will be costly as they will reflect it's original sale price, and not the current value (on the plus side, as long as they are properly maintained, they will be very reliable). If you are set on getting a Boxster - look for one that is in great condition (be picky - drive a few and get a handle on what one should be like before committing to buy any example); before buying, have a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic check it out. Once you have it, join PCA (Porsche Club Of America), attend some autocrosses (lots of fun and a great chance to know your car), and hold off making any upgrades or mods until you actually understand what your car can and can't do, and what you actually want it to do. With this experience (and the added knowledge of the people you'll meet in PCA), you'll make better choices and get much more out of the car.)

a reply session to every ones question in my previous "I have a very important question"?
@ Tokar429 : my dad is a classic collector, he has over 25 cars ranging from 1939 till 1978. @ Jewel : thanks for the link to that beautiful article, it was really wroth it. @ tears Nafeez : Sorry brother I am not a millionere, I am just an ordinary working class white collar guy who earns a respectable living, so for that reason instead of paying $1.4 million (which is highly unfordable for me) for a Lamborghini that is just a Murcielago LP640 with a very attractive body kit and besides I've been a Porsche fan for ages and I am getting the all new 2008 997 variant GT2 with a 3.6 liter twin turbo charged straight 6 engine producing 530 bhp and performance statistics ... well ... 0-100 mph (160 kmph) in 7 seconds and a 7:30 second lap time around the nurburgring (which is probably the track of all tracks) in Germany should explain it all. ...@ Peace Missile : you got it all wrong I meant I do my part at paying zakat, I did some calculation's and I earn around $14,300 (3,500 Kuwaiti Dinars) a month and that is what I pay in zakat every year which means 10% ($14,300/3,500 Kuwaiti Dinars) a year if you do the maths, you were not at all harsh and I appriciate your answer. @ Ismail Eliat : brother you gave me the best answer but I feel I wouldnt do justice to all the other amazing answer that I've got, so if you dontmindI'll be putting this answer on voting and I'll be honest I've got kinda biased answers here so I'll let the rest decide by voting on this answer. @ Seruni ~bored~ : I am a Pakistani but I have been bought up and reside in Kuwait and Kuwait is a very rich country, in a recent survey it stated that 8 out of 10 Kuwaities can afford to own a Mercedes-Benz S-Class (which is a 100k+ car as well) and I appreciate your answer very much thank you.@ aunthentic_believer09 : yes as I said earlier in this post I pay nearly 10% of all my income into Zakat. thank you all.@ Seruni : Yes I know he has a very gifted voice and may Allah bless himpeople its a reply question to my yesterdays question about me and my obsession towards cars!@ tears Nafeez : yes I've driven the new LP640 and the original Murcielago (bat in Spanish) and just a couple of months ago I sold an orange 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV (supervaloce) it was a lovely car but to troublesome for my likeness so I had to let it go.

Does anyone know where I can search for modifications by car?
I am planning on buying a Porsche 968 within the next few months. I'm looking to modify it with a turbo kit. I'm sure it'll be much cheaper than finding one of the 15 they only built as a turbo stock. Can anyone help me out here?I'd rather go with a 968 without a turbo than a 944. I've fallen in love with the 968.
ANSWER: (The real question here, is just what are your goals in regards to the car? Because the 968 Turbo is such a rare car, there is a good chance that upgrading a base 968 might be less expensive... but that is still MIGHT! Keep in mind that the factory 968 turbo is not a regular 968 with a turbo added to the engine. Like the other turbo models, they start with a different engine, to which the turbo is added. Brakes and suspension are then also upgraded to balance out the platform. And sometimes other trim and body work items are added as well. To genuinely replicate the factory's work on a base 968 would be a very expensive undertaking, requiring a complete engine rebuild with many new parts in addition to the added turbo and related parts (figure $10-15k right here). Rounding out the other upgrades will be another $5-8k. Then the wider wheels and other unepxected items that will certainly turn up... in the end, budget $18-25k on top of the purchase of the 968! And then keep in mind that if you go to resell the car, you will likely have decreased it's base value with everything you've done. So, what is you goal? As has been mentioned, on the performance front, a factory 951 or 951S would cost less, and deliver some outstanding performance possibilities. If you prefer the looks of the later 968, it would be much easier to fit the 968 lights and bumpers to a 951 than upgrade the 968 to a turbo engine. Or are you seeking a slightly (very slightly) more modern car? In which case, you may want to consider that the 968 offers more performance than a typical driver can make use of as is. You may want to get the 968 and actually learn to drive it to it's capabilities before deciding you need more capability from the car - the fact is, in almost all cases, it's the driver and not the car that is limiting it's performance. As an added bonus, when you have some experience with such driving, you will be in a much better position to evaluate the car's need and how to enhance them. Of course, you can also simply bolt an after market turbo to a 968 and consider it done! But as is often the case with Porsches and other expensive automobiles, the cheap route is often the most expensive route you can take. You will either spend a good chunk of money on the turbo and run it at almost no boost, achieving performance levels that would have been easier and more cost effectively obtained with ECU reprogramming and a more open exhaust, or you will turn up the boost, trading a little hp for engine reliability and hastening the need for a complete (and expensive) rebuild. Further, you will be without the suspension and braking that should accompany the added hp, taking away the biggest strengths of the 968. Decide just what your goal is, and the possible solultions will likely be clearer.)

ANSWER: (first off, N/A 944s really arent very fast at all in a straight line. Second off, A 500 dollar porsche will be the most expensive one you ever will own. Repair costs will annihilate your wallet. Third, the 944 is deisgned as a good handling momentum car, not an HP monster. If you want a lot of power for cheap, go buy something american. High power porsches are horribly expensive. Fourth, The best way to turbo a 944 is to sell the N/A one and buy a 944 turbo. That way you get a motor already suited for turbocharging, better suspension, better brakes, etc etc. Itll be cheaper in the long run, and much faster. My suggestion is that if you bought the car for 500 bucks, part the thing out, make a solid 6 grand, save and buy a car that wont ruin you financially, like a 944 can.)

porsche 944 engine oil leak timing belt replace?
i resently bought a porsche 944 non-turbo 1985.5 and when i take it to the mechanic he told me that the engine is leaking oil from the crank shaft oil seal im just wondering if i can get any advices form 944 owners or experienced mechanic if the oil is leaking should i change the timing belt and tensioner and get a reseal kit. The kit contains every one of the seals that i need to stop the front of the engine from leaking. That would be the seals for the crankshaft, camshaft, and the two balance shafts and transparent mylar washers on the camshaft and balance shafts. and right now how many miles can i drive without gambling my timing belt break in the middle of the road im planing the change the belt in the spring of 08 a do everything together. and wouldnt the oil leak weaken the belt if its petro based correct me if im wrong.
ANSWER: (Do it all at the same time. Install a new water pump also (its driven by the timing belt). Oil will not ruin the belt, its kelvar.)
