Scion Turbo Kit FAQ

Supercharge my 2005 Scion TC?
I live in the Houston area of Texas and was wondering:What kind of turbocharged should I get (provide HP, Torque, PSI, etc and Price)?Where can I go get the turbo kit installed at around Houston? What other upgrades do I need to add to my TC so I don't tear it apart from all of the turbocharged pressure? Thanks
My bad guys i want to turbocharge it.
What about the Garrett GTX-R Turbocharger compared to what you recommended? And another question...does a turbocharge help your MPG not really a big deal to me just curiousCool your answering all my questions : ) a few more though.....for the ptuning kit is the price including installation also? If not how much will that be? And how long will it take to install?Your doing fantasticThanks so muchAm i going to need any additional parts for the turbo kit like bigger pipes and valves to put less tension and stress on the motor so it wont rip itsself apart? if so how much and what do i need to get. im looking at the ptuning kit
ANSWER: (yeah, are you talking about the supercharger or turbo???if your talking about the supercharger, then dont get it, its crap, and will always be crap...if your talking about a turbo kit, youre in luck. there are many to choose, the better ones are Dezod and Ptuning...the Ptuning kit should be PSI setting of 8-14 which is ideal for 250-380whp, give or take a few... 14psi is the max psi you should tune on a tC with everything stock. so if you run 8psi, with a professional tune, which it looks you are wanting to do since you want to know of a place to get it installed, then the tC's motor will run safely at 8psi and you should have any problems. just have to change the oil more frequently. the price for the Ptuing kits range from $4140-$5475 which isnt bad, alot of bang for your buck and plenty of room for future building/extraction of power.there is also the Dezod kit, which is around $3975 which isnt bad, but its limited, mainly for the tuners that just want extra power and dont want to push their car to its limits.. Dezod kit provides 200-270whp on boost from 5-8psi... while Ptuning is more wide tuner usage, for those that want limited power or unlimited power and want to push their car to the limits... torque numbers for both kits are close to the power numbers. there should actually be a place in Houston that does this stuff, installing wise... turbo kits are from online order, but there is a place somewhere up there cuz my neighbor takes his drag car engines up there sometimes. and there is actually a shop up there if im not mistaken that does tuner cars, you can ask around, or google it. as for other upgrades, like i said if you run 5-10 psi you should have any problems, some tC's have pushed 14psi all stock, with a turbo kit. but personally, 10-12 psi range is where you want pistons/rods/pistons rings, and then you'll b fine. later you can do, BC stage 2 turbo cams, with valvetrain kit.. also a much needed thing is an exhaust, thats the thing with Dezod they have a 2.5inch turbo back exhaust, while Ptuning has a true 3inch turbo back exhaust. so which evr kit you go for get their exhaust, but Ptuning is a better buy... a book to read for people new to turbochargering, or evern those familiar with it is Maximum Boost, by Corky Bell. so invest in that book first. answers alot of things. its actuall a good book, dont let the math and chemistry scare you though. EDIT: if you are looking at a specifc turbo, then are you looking to build your own kit? cuz Ptuning and Dezod are kits with a specific turbo matched to the tC's needs and the other components... and no increase on MPGs maybe it'll drop a little, maybe it'll stay the same, depends on how you'll drive it. ADDITIONAL EDIT: sorry i havent gotten back, school is taking its toll... no, Ptuning kit does not include installation, that doesnt even include shipping. but i think they always have a free shipping system anyways. its actually possible to do it yourself, the install. if you arent familiar with it though you may expect your car to be sitting in the driveway for a weekened as you work on it, and it would be helpful to have a buddy to help. or go to a local auto shop and get them to do it. installtion cost will vary on the shop due to: when you want your car back, the fact that there are other customers, various things. so i cant be specific on cost. bumper and will need to be removed.everything in the Ptuning kit is matched perfect to the tC, so nothing else is needed, unless you increase boost pressure, beyond the preset 8-10psi. its pretty much a plug and play kit, just have to use the preset boost, and fuel maps that come with the system. it is recomended to get an upgraded clutch and flywheel. you can find the cost for clutch and flywheel upgrades also on Ptunings site. some true facts and numbers of the tC..Chris Rado once ran his tC turboed at 535whp (wheel horse power) with a fully stock engine, only upgrades were pistons and rods. its not the pressure that hurts the engine but the "load" it bears. street riven daily driver tC's have seen over 400whp on a compltly stock engine. the tC's crankshaft will hold power into the 800whp range. the tranny has seen over 700whp. the tC's factory air/fuel (A/F) ratio is equivalent to a turbocharged engines A/F ratio. the block can support up to 700whp stock, and the stock sleeves have seen up to 700whp. so as you can see, its one heck of a strong machine, not given the respect it deserves, but pretty strong.)

whp and 0-60 times automatic turbo scion tc?
I have a 2010 auto scion tc. I want to make it faster. (no i am not selling my car...forget it) i was wondering what is the best turbo kit to get. and im into 0-60/ 0-100 times n that kinda stuff... so could someone give me some info as to what the turbo kits will give me (include whp and price)
ANSWER: (well i found thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5VG0BybFeYso roughly 6-7 sec on a 0-60 auto turbo tC. he had no traction because he had bad tires and with better tires would have gripped the road, and if im not mistaken he didnt have the transmission cooler. built automatic tansmission for sure, turboed. and he was running GReddy kithttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBferk916wY Dezod kit 200-235whp on 5psi, which is pretty good.)

What are the price ranges for these items?
Ideally, these would all be of good quality and Scion tC compatible. -H&R Coilovers-Turbo-Kit-Upgraded Clutch (to handle turbo)-Racing Seats & Harnesses-Exhaust-LSD-Roll Cage-Brake Kit-Wheels & Tires-Gauges/Pods-Lightweight Flywheel-High Compression Pistons-2 DIN RadioI do plan on doing all the installation (my brother and I have been taking auto-repair classes @ community college.) Didn't think of transmission, thanks. Also, there is nothing fun in buying a new car.
ANSWER: (Not to hurt your feelings but you really need to understand how things work in a car. First off you are naming parts but not asking for installation information...if you can't do the work yourself you don't understand the true cost of upgrading these things. First off: adding HIGH compression pistons is wrong when turbocharging a vehicle. You go the other way so that you don't blow the head gasket or brick the pistons. But I'll address your question by partThe installation of a lsd is around 600-700 dollars, the part itself is at least 400 dollars if you buy it from a cheap provider; you get what you pay for. The minimum quality you want is quaife. A good turbo kit runs at least 3k; a real turbo kit is 4k-5k. That's a complete kit.A full rollcage + installation is at least 1k closer to 1,500. A partial kit is around 800 installed. Upgraded clutch + installation is at least 800 for parts and labor; if you buy a real clutch (i.e. exedy hyper) expect to pay 1k for parts alone. Everything else varies with what you select. Easily, all this (junk in my opinion) is going to cost more than the value of your car. Easily 15k, more if you want quality stuff. And it doesn't address your drivetrain (i.e. AXLES and TRANSMISSION) which will be unable to handle the increase in power...guaranteed if it's over 15psi of boost. You essentially are putting the wagon in front of the horse. If you don't like your car trade it in for a cobalt ss turbo or wrx. End of story.)

TURBO SCION TC what do i need to do to the motor to hold 23psi?
so i have a 2006 tc and i have a greddy turbo kit not enough power so what would i need to do to the internals to be able to push 23 pounds? rods, pistons, valve spring/retainer kit, and turbo cams let me know
ANSWER: (somethings that may be good could be, crower rods, cp pistons, crower valvetrain, in fact if you check out youtube, there is a guy that owns a tC, his girlfirend actually drives it, he also owns a 09 C6 Z06 and their tC destroyed their Vette. you can check out his tC here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54bjpPVZazYthey are running 23 psi with 520+whp.basically just beef up the internals cuz it can be done.but i think thats really it what you said: cams, pistons, rods, valvetrain (springs/retainer kit) and valves of course, maybe valve guids. check out Dezod, they have a huge list of things you can check out. they have a stroker kit up, engine build. other things. and PTuning also)

SCION TC 2AZ FE 2.4L?? 2AZ FE??
what does 2AZ FE mean?? I have a s06 tock scion tc, but what does 2AZ FE mean? is itsome kind of modification for engine or is it on any stock scion tc..I was looking at some turbo kits and it always says SCION TC 2AZ FE 2.4L complete turbo kit.. anyone has any idea??
ANSWER: (2AZ-FE is just the engine name. many reffer to it as just 2AZ. AZ is the family name, 2 means second generation engine in the family (so the 2AZ is the 2nd sibiling and 1AZ is oldest sibiling) and FE is the tech side to it. F stands for economy narrow angled valves, and E is electronic fuel injection....2.4L is just the side of the motor its also 2362cc'sits fairly similiar to the 2AZ in the Camry but they are different. in the 05-06 tC's they were tuned and built differently than the Camry's which is why the:tC was at 160hp @ 5700rpm 161tq @ 4000rpmCamry 157hp at 5700rpm 160tq @ 4000both had a steady 9:6 compression ratio but were still tuned and built differently. Camry's motor in the US and the tC's motor in Japan. on the 07+ tC's the engine was retuned with some changes, adding oil squirters on the pistons, changing the exhaust flange, the MAF sensor as well as pistons and rods. now the engine is rated:161hp @ 6000rpm 163tq @ 4000 rpm with a 9:8 compression ratio.and the Camry's motor never changed. the tC's is based on the block used for the Camry but everything else is done differently with different internals so its not a Camry motor as many people say, they are actually different. the AZ family though is now being replaced by the AR family which has stepped up to Dual VVT-i and a little bit more technology, and the AR engines are 2.5 and 2.7 L 4 cylinder engines. and 2.7 is big for a 4 cylinder. power has increased and the AR is used in the newer Camry's its unsure if it will ever be used in the tC.)

is this a good turbo kit for a scion tc?
Dezod Motorsports Signature Turbo System-Scion tC 05-09http://www.dezod.com/pd_dezod_motorsports_signature.cfm
ANSWER: (thats the build it yourself kit. that one is for hardcore tuners that know what they want because youre choosing your turbo, wastegate, engine management and injectors. if you know what you are doing you can get it. their: Dezod S1 Scion tC Turbo System for the 05-09, is for someone looking for a "plug and play" method of forced induction. And the S2 kit is for full blown hardcore power which needs a clutch upgrade... but like i said if you know what your doing then the build it kit is right. but if your looking for a "plug and play" bolt on kit then the S1 kit is the right one plus the S1 kit will come out cheaper.link below.also be sure you select the right right trannsmission cuz they have auto and stick kits.)

what should i get for my scion tc 07 automatic (supercharger, turbo or nitro)?
i got some cash n want 2 add a little bit of bang into my car so i was wondering what should i get for a automatic car a supercharger, turbo kit or nitrous kit what is best
ANSWER: (dont listen to that other guy i have an automatic, and the auto can take up to 250hp. nothing happens if you go over that power limit, but its best to have an aftermarket transmission cooler to cool the fluid since the torque converter will be running harder. and theres no such thing as a auto clutch, its a torque converter.you should go for a turbo kit. Dezod Motorsports puts out a good kit for the auto. the supercharger on an auto doesnt put out much power. a manual tranny tC with intake, headers and exhaust can beat a auto S/C tC. best is get the turbo tranny cooler and the Dezod Exhaust. that'll add the bang you want. thats what im gonna do once i have the money. Let me just add more since everyone here doesnt know anything. I own a Scion tC, obviouse. the tC's auto tranny can hit up to 160mph with mods and the limiter removed. the auto tranny will hold up. it doesnt have to be built till you are over 300hp. as long as you have the tranny cooler it will last. the tC's engine will not blow up. the engine can handle over 500hp so it will last. the tranny just needs valve body work. I've been doing research on the tC since 05 it can take it. people think cuz its an auto it'll die. theres auto tC's with over 230hp no tranny work. the turbo's come with a "fit kit" to work with the auto tranny.)

which turbo kit is the best for the scion tc and which is putting out the most power? Ptuning?Dezod?Descendant?
Descendant(chris rado turbo kit)
ANSWER: (comparing Dezod and Descendant, Dezod is cheaper with pretty much the same stuff. Also Dezod offers the only catted down-pipe for people that want to stay legal. yeah Descendant is good cuz Chris Rado uses it but just because he uses it and is putting alot of power, amateurs think since he can do then they can and blow their car. Ptuning's is good in a way that the way the turbo is positioned, it allows a true cold air intake which is good. All three are good hands down but Dezods is cheaper for pretty much the same hp gains across the board. im going for a Dezod only because ive done more research on it, and fits my hp and price needs. Update. Ptuning's website no longer works, so I dont know what is going on there, cuz there doamin is up for sale or something.)

scion tc: boost or blow?
got a few bucks and ready to go forced induction. i have an 05 scion tc, not sure if i should go turbo or supercharger. the cheapest TRD charger kit i found was on Toyota Sparks.com on sale from $2200 to a price yet to be announced. i am also looking at getting an inexpensive turbo kit, possible the dezod s1 kit if funds provide. if not, something very basic. either way, i will be running less than 10psi until i get some engine work done. will also get it professionally tuned by a local performance shop. im just trying to figure whats gonna get me the most bang for the buck.im looking to get more power than what an I/H/E will doplus nothing can beat the sound of a bov
ANSWER: (rule #1: don't ever listen to 12pleze on stuff like this. he's 99% wrong.rule #2: turbocharger will always be more expensive, but you do get what you pay for. rule #3: when going f/i, make sure to have a back up plan just in case your car craps out on you/needs repairs/whatever, and make sure to have a just in case $ fund! okay, the most bang for your buck will be a turbocharger. dezod kit is very reliable, but going f/i on any n/a engine will have consequences on your engine. sure, it'll boost up your hp and torque by over 100, but the added pressure will add strain on the engine, thus it can reduce the life of your engine. it can also (if not set up/tuned properly/taken care of) blow up your engine. just wanted you to be aware of the risks you are taking when going turbo. to my knowledge, the best kits out there for your money are turbotoyotas and dezod. there are some new kits going to be released soon, but i don't know much about those. 10psi is the most you can run without having the engine become damaged, but make sure its with a good tune. turbocharger will most definitely get you the most bang for your buck, because with the dezod/turbotoyotas kit you'll be in the 300hp range, thus being able to keep up with the STi's and Evos. before going turbo, you should definitely do a bit of research of turbos so you know how they work and how to fix them if anything goes wrong. and while it is true you need to get other parts, it will not put you in the $10,000 range or above, like 12pleze is stating. truthfully, with a tune and some upgraded parts (clutch, exhaust, gauges) it'll be around 6 - 7k. those would be the necessary ones for hte 8 - 10psi range. after that, you'll need to reinforce the engine to go pats 10 psi.)

do i need to do any engine work to run a scion tc on low boost?
i plan to boost my tc soon, gonna get an inexpensive turbo kit. im gonna run low boost, under 10psi for now. do i need to do any engine work? or can i wait to do that for when im ready to crank up the boost?
ANSWER: (Wait until you see if the boost blows your engine.)

ok so im confused..if i turbo or not? help?
ok so im going to turbo my scion tc 08..people had told me not to buy a cold air intake, headers, and exhaust. they told me to wait, buy why wait?oh another question im sure i wana do this im just tryin to learn as much as i can. what other parts should i onsider to put so i can b ready for the turbo..by the way im getting a turbonotics full kitthanxx
ANSWER: (CAIs are usually crap. You think a piddlydink company with a few thousand dollar R&D budget can compete with Ivy-league educated engineers working for a multibillion dollar company? CAIs are marketing. If you find a dyno test from someplace independent (not a magazine that gets advertising dollars from CAI companies) you'l see that they don't do squat, and some even hurt horsepower. A Scion TC already has individual runner headers from the factory. Don't bother. Get a new exhaust; 3" all the way back with a Dynomax high flow cat. That and a turbo kit.)

Is it possible to have a Injen Cold Air Intake System and a Turbonetics complete turbo kit?
This is all for a 2006 Scion tC.
ANSWER: (technically, yes you can but you will have to modify the intake to fit. it will not fit right in because the turbo kit and its components take up too much room in the engine bay. im sure if you took it to a shop and told them to make your cai fit they could do it, but i'm pretty sure they'd have to cut it or in some way make it smaller.)

Where can I find a turbo kit for my scion tc?
I have a 2009 scion tc and i was looking online for a turbo kit, but had trouble finding one for The '09 series. I did find one turbo kit (http://www.fastscions.com/scion-tc-turbonetics-turbo-kit-2007-2008.aspx) it says it works on the '07-'08 scion and I was wondering if it would work for the 09 tc. Also if you can find any turbo kits that work for the 09 tc please tell me
ANSWER: (I would suggest going to turbo-kits.com. They have multiple kits for the tc.)

i have an 07 scion tc with, greddy exhaust system, AEM cold air intake.. n thats about it..i got about 5 thousand in hand..and im going turbo..i want a good kit that makes that shit fly..What should i do before getting a turbo..like what to buy and then what to expect after putting in a turboIf any one can help plz do on giving me some info..i have a good idea what to do but i just want to read what others woud do
thanx
ANSWER: (when purchasing a turbocharger kit it is imperative that several precautionary measures are taken. Research on the mechanical load limits of the engine internals will assist in choosing which system to invest in. Too much boost pressure and your engine risks damage. second, the kit must contain a new MAP sensor, fuel injectors, fuel pump and lines, a PCM or a piggy back system, Inter cooler piping and inter cooler, Blow off valve, exhaust system for the modified routing, several hours at the local tuning facility, new intake piping, removal of EGR system and new spark plugs, coils and wires. This is the basic kit requirement for a serious investor. if you want to have a few laughs for a few hours before causing severe damage to your vehicle just by the "ricky racer" kits that everyone sells for one third the required price and only half the parts. To convert a system correctly without compromising engine longevity invest a few hours into research and begin with understanding the full logistics of turbocharger operation. if your still interested in converting look into Slowboyracing.com or an GT24 or smaller turbo. Enjoy!)

Can you use existing Scion tc cold air intake with new turbonetics turbo kit?
I have a injen cold air intake(NOT a short ram intake) and im seriously considering getting the turbonetics turbo kit for the tc and plan to just bolt it on at 8 psi and not doing any other mods to the car and my question is will my intake work the same or better with the kit? the kit comes with a short ram intake and i dont know if thiers any significance to the fact its a short ram and i dont know how the differently tuned intake will work. Experts help! Owners help!
ANSWER: (Well from the looks of it the intake will have to go with all the kits i am looking at i linked you to what im sure you have already seen. I think perhaps the Iject intake you have will possibly have to get taken out for whatever kit you have in here. It could possibly throw some stuff off time. Im sure if you want to keep your intake though maybe a pro could jerry rig it although whats the point when the kits have a nice intake for show! hehe! Good Luck on your project!)

Can I put a Turbo kit in my 2007 Automatic transmition Scion tc?
I own a 2007 Scion tc that is Automatic transmition unfortunatelyy) I was wondering if it is safe to put a turbo kit on the car or if doing so will result in costly repairs or dangerous situations? If anyone could help me out it be muchappreciatedd.....
ANSWER: (yes you can, and yes there will/might be problems. dont set the psi too high or else itll blow up your engine unless you reinforce it first (10 psi max on stock internals) but since its an auto you gotta keep the hp under 250 or else itll warp your tranny. yes your engine can blow up from installing a turbo, yes turbo kits/parts/tuning will cost you a lot of money. depending on your kit, its at least $5000, more likely higher. there are lots of problems that can come with f/i a n/a car, like engine dying sooner, brokn/cracked pipes, tc.)

ebay turbo kits any good?
ive always wanted to boost my scion tc but the kits where so expensive (starting at $4000 for parts only) and was considering supercharging. i was looking for the trd charger on ebay when i came across a bunch of inexpensive turbo kits, starting at $750. how good are these kits? i know they wont compare to a greddy or hks kit or others, but i will be running low boost and not racing or anything. i will get it professionally tuned though. whats the difference between a $750 kit and an $1100 kit? no negative comments please, just give me your honest opinions.im probably gonna have a shop install and tune it so are instructions necessary?
ANSWER: (Having looked into the differences between "kits" in the thousands of dollars and the e-bay kits, I can tell you a little about the differences. The biggest item is fuel and ignition management. The two biggest enemies of a turbo charged engine are detonation and lean burn. This necessitates bigger fuel injectors and better ignition control. In top grade kits these items are addressed.Another thing to look at when changing over is how complete is the kit. Now it may not seem big now, but is there plumbing for the exhaust. What about the fittings for coolant and oil?The last item I will address is instructions! Do you know where to get the oil for the turbo charger from, and how are you going to get it back into the oil pan? The 4000 dollar kit will have everything you need, including instructions on how to install it.)

I have a 2006 scion tc, is it worth it to buy a turbo kit?
i found out it would be close to $9000 to buy a turbo kit and have it tuned, installed, and everything else i will need for it.. but is it actually worth it?
ANSWER: (it really depends on if you think it'll be worth it. the real question is do YOU want to turbo your tc or not? sure there are pros to it, more so on the "i have a turbo in my tc" bragging rights as well as a considerable gain in whp and torque, but there are also a lot of negatives to it as well. for one, you'll have to start pumping premium only, two you run the risk of your engine crapping out on you way sooner than it normally would, three is that now your car requires a lot more maintenance, etc. there is good along with the bad, so its actually up to you to decide. in my personal opinion, if i had the money to burn than yes, i would do it. mainly because for a car that costs considerably less (even with a turbo install) than an sti or evo, depending on the kit and the tune you'd be able to at least hang with them.)

ANSWER: (turbotoyotaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. seriously, turbotoyota. you will get the most gains seen out of any bolt on kit on the market right now. i have a friend whose on the stage 1 turbotoyota kit making 310 whp and 272 torque @ 10psi off of this bolt on kit. he does have the aftermarket exhaust which also does help with the hp. actually, for the tc's the pistons already come sleeved. you also do not need to install a fuel pump either. these kits were made to work with the tc's stock parts. the engine already comes with sleeved pistons which is why the engine can handle up to 350 hp on stock internals. once you go above the 350 hp mark, then yes you will need to strengthen in the pistons, etc. you will also need to upgrade your clutch after installing the stage 1 kit, as the added power will cause your tranny to slip (manual) or warp (auto). but yeah, on top of the installation of the kit, you need to pay for gauges, gauge pod, exhaust, upgraded clutch, tune, and you should also have some money left over for the "just in case" situations. you kinda need to plan for the worst when installing and driving a turbocharged car, since it was n/a to begin with the likelyhood that something bad may happen is greater than a stock turbo car. just pay attention to the car, maintain it properly and it should be okay. go to the link and to the forum, talk to a guy named java09. ask him about his turbotoyota kit.)

Just a baseline price
ANSWER: (If you are going to buy a kit yourself it is about 3400+ and that is from turbokits.com http://www.turbo-kits.com/tC_turbo_kits.html i would check around try scionlife.com and other forums you migth be able to get one cheaper. Do some research before buying, and i would buy from a reputiable company. maybe Evasive motorsports if they carry parts for your car.)

Can someone help me and hook me up with a link to where i can purchase a zpi stage 0 turbo kit for my scion ?
ANSWER: (The only turbo that will work without about 15,000 in parts is the optional Supercharger which gives 85Hp and 80lb's of torque. With K@N option and Borla exhaust option and free flow exhaust option and last change all fluids to synthetic you will get close to 300HP and 300 lb's of torque for 4100.00. I do not think you would want to go any faster then that. 300lbs of torque ina little lightweught car is a lot and will blow doors off subaru WRX Rally Edition and is cheaper by 10,000.00)

making universal turbo kit question?
im trying to make a custom turbo kit since scion xd has not came with a kit on the aftermarket yet .. is an intercooler, wastegate, tubes/pipe and turbo all that is necessary.. and perhaps fuel injectors?im trying to make a custom turbo kit since companies has not came with a kit on the aftermarket yet for scion xd .. is an intercooler, wastegate, tubes/pipe and turbo is all that is necessary? and perhaps fuel injectors?
ANSWER: (...and after you've done everything else you'll blow your engine because it wasn't designed for a turbo. At the very least you will need to keep a steady supply of head gaskets handy and you will become very proficient at changing them lol)

If I buy this turbo kit for my 2003 Toyota Camry, what else would I need?
http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=238&prodname=**NEW**+++Treadstone+Scion+Tc+Turbo+kit It is for a Scion but im 100% sure it will fit my Camry' engine, what else would I need?
ANSWER: (>>> It is for a Scion but im 100% sure it will fit my Camry' engine Don't be so sure. There's a very little room under the hood for strange after market pipes. Even if the 2 cars had the same engine, there are lots of other accessories that does NOT fit in the same place. Good Luck... P.S. The point of a KIT is that it does NOT need anything else.)

Tuning up a Lancer GTS 09?
The new Lancer GTS has a 2.4 liter engine with 168 hp. I test drove one of these guys and I really loved it. With a manual transmission this car is pretty quick. I'm getting this car because my brother already has the eclipse (really fast car, and i'm used to driving it) Soooo, that brings me to my question. The GTS is quite quick. But how could I make it even quicker? I don't plan on hardcore racing, but I would love to occasionally put my friend's cars in there place. They all drive scion tc's and civic Si's, cars like that. Without getting a super/turbo charge, are there ways to get your car more HP? My bro said that you can buy better exhaust and air intake kits, and it would add horsepower. But how much HP? And how much does stuff like that cost? Just fill me in =) Btw, sorry for being a car noob.
ANSWER: (just wait you made the right choice getting that car they are making a bolt on turbo in july / augustfor a 2.4l lancer ralliart which is going to be somewhat competetive to the GSR that is out it is said stock the ralliart is going to deliver 258 horses and 253 torque . quite fast for a car under $28,000. the turbo alone is going to cost somewhere around 3500- 4000 then cost of install is going to be around 500-800 but you will for sure put them in there place.)

What do you think is better? Scion tC or an SRT-4?
I already have a 1972 Chevelle but with the price of gas going up, I'm looking at saving that car for weekends and as a track car. I would like an Import to drive around for fun and for the saving on gas. I know that an SRT-4 comes w/ a stock turbo but it takes premium gas. A Scion tC takes regular but is not as fast and they are close to being the same price. I could probably have more fun with an SRT but a tC is a great car that is really dependable from the stories I have heard. I'm looking at getting one of these but kinda stumped on which one. Looking to keep it for a while and make it faster than what it comes stock. Better turbo, Intake, Exhaust, Intercooler, Headers, lowering kit, some interior and exterior work. Nothing too major but something that'll be pretty fast and dependable. I would love to do all this to my Chevelle but I can't take that out a lot with about 8 miles to the gallon demanding premium gas with such a big tank with gas prices rising everyday. Thanks.
ANSWER: (srt-4 all the way.srt-4's haul some serious ass. i know cuz my mother has a 04 pt cruiser GT 2.4 turbo and its the same engine as an srt-4, take the tracton controll off and brake boost the car(it's an automatic) to get some boost and floor it. it burns the tires in 1st, 2nd and chirps in 3rd. the tc is a nice car but kind of a chick car, 2 of my friends have tc's ones a chick. my cousin has an srt-4 and its fast. in my opinion the srt-4 is more of a mans car. yes the tc runs on 87 and the srt has to run on midgrade, but overall the srt-4 is a quick car that you will have more fun driving than a tc, and the best bang for your buck.also you will get about 21mpg with the srt-4.hope this helps.)
