Diesel Amplifies Mazda Vehicles

Posted On August 15th 2009 By TeRBo. Under Turbo Articles  Tags: Automotive Mazda Parts, Mazda 2, Mazda 3, Mazda Auto Part, Mazda Oem Parts, Mazda Parts  .

Before the year ends, Mazda will expand its diesel offerings in Australia.

An example is the Mazda 3 diesel that will join the Mazda6 and is expected to arrive in September. It will be available in both sedan and hatchback form, the Mazda 3 will have the same engine as the present Mazda6 diesel.

One hundred five kilowatt (105 kW) and 360Nm are produced by the 2.0-litre common-rail turbo diesel and its fuel consumption is rated at 6L/100km.

Will only be available in the one Maxx Sport trim level, the Mazda 3 will feature a rear spoiler as well as 16-inch wheels. And not like the petrol models, Direct Stability Control will be available as a standard feature.

Alistair Doak, Mazda spokesman, said that the Japanese company is targeting to sell more than 100 Mazda3 diesels per month. However, he added that it will be a reasonably small percentage of overall sold Mazda 3 units. For the month of May, Mazda reached sales of 2758 units. This figure means that the car is the second most popular small car, next to Toyota Corolla.

Mazda originally forecasted 50 sales per month for the Mazda 6 diesel when it went on sale. But Doak said that they now target 100 models per month. He added that the company has no plans to expand the diesel range further in Australia.

He explained that the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 will be the two diesel passenger cars, the car types that comprise the highest sales in Europe. He further explained that their fellow Japanese car makers are not offering any diesel car and the company is introducing the second one.

He also said that the company has no plans for diesel engines in the larger CX-7 as well as to the yet-to-arrive CX-9 because these cars are primarily for the market in North America, where demand for diesel is far too low.

The generation of the Mazda 2 will follow after the Mazda 3 diesel. The Mazda 2, which is smaller, will go on sale in October and is expected to remain at nearly $16,000 for the entry model.

According to Doak, buyers can expect that the new Mazda2 will be comparable in price to the current car, which begins at $16,335 for the Neo and rises to $20,290 for the excellent Genki model. He added that the Mazda2 would be available only with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, not like some of its competing cars, which offer 1.3-litre entry models. He further stated that as to the cost, certainly there is not much difference.

With the light car running in the third spot of sales behind Mazda3 and Mazda6, the Mazda 2, according to him, is an essential part of the overall line-up. He said that the car's styling brings it into line with the rest of the Mazda line-up. He also said that the company has always established good image regarding being a leader in style and the Mazda2 should also establish good reputation in the light-car segment.

Since December 2002, the current car has been on sale. So far this year, Mazda has sold 3045 units, which is a 30 percent increase on last year's sales figures.

The industry is also expecting that Mazda will carry over the existing three model names; Neo, Maxx and Genki.

With curtain and side airbags as options and the ABS in the current model, safety has been the very aim of building the car. The new one is expected to add dynamic stability control feature to the safety kit. This new comer removed nearly 100kg of weight from its predecessor.

The company says that high-tensile steel was utilized to slice out weight without putting at risk the safety, body inflexibility, noise, vibration and sharpness. It also claims that the car has improved up to 15 percent over the current car. So this has benefits for fuel economy. The 60/40 split rear-fold seat is still present while the luggage area has been decreased from 280 to 250 liters.

The 1.5-litre offers 76kW at 6000 revs and 136Nm at 4000 revs – decreases from 82kW at 6000 revs and 141Nm at 4000 revs.

About Mazda Motor Corporation

A Japanese automotive manufacturer that is based in Hiroshima, Japan, Mazda Motor Corporation is a well known producer of different types of vehicles as well as their corresponding Mazda auto parts. It began supplying tools in 1929 and soon branched out into production of trucks for commercial purposes.

The manufacturer’s name is derived from the transcendental God of Zoroastrianism, Ahura Mazda. It is also believed that Mazda coincides with the anglicized pronunciation of Zoroastrianism founder's name, Jujiro Matsuda, and opted to rename it in honor of both his family and the believers of Zoroastrianism. In the Avestan language, Mazda means “wisdom”. Nonetheless, because the company is from Japan, the name has always been pronounced and spelled as "Matsuda". This leads the public to believe that “Mazda” is just an anglicized version of the founder.

The company is expected to produce 1.25 million vehicles annually as of 2006. Among Japan, Europe, North America, and Latin America, its sales will be evenly divided.

Mazda’s 33.4% of controlling interest is controlled by the Ford Motor Company.

Mazda is Too Elastic for a Poor Road

Posted On August 14th 2009 By TeRBo. Under Turbo Articles  Tags: Automotive Mazda Parts, Mazda Accessories, Mazda Accessory, Mazda Auto Parts, Mazda Oem Parts, Mazda Part, Mazda Parts  .

The rejuvenated Mazda group has been making some effort to promote the sporting aspects of its volume models. The effort was ended when the refined Mazda Company recently took a bold step and brought its whole range to Castle Combe, a fast, flowing racetrack near Chippenham in the English shires.

It is a step which manufacturers are usually reluctant to take because experience tells them they can lose a few cars. It is becoming harder to find anywhere to research the boundaries of modern cars. They grow faster and more capable as years pass by, yet are built for roads that are ever more crowded and regulated for profit instead of safety.

Because the cars were not designed for a closed track, it was at one time seen as an irrelevance. But now, it is almost the only wise choice. The differences between segments of the market remain large if strong competition and massive legislation have brought conformity in styling and dynamics.

The mid-sized 3 MPS, (from €35,995) was spiced up by a new aero bodykit and suspension package. Its 260bhp already lays the claim to the title of most powerful front-driven hatch. A quite more understated version of the same body has been featured with a new 141bhp turbodiesel, since no range is complete without a performance oil-burner.

There was also the bigger, four-wheel-drive Mazda6 saloon (€45,395). Moreover, there are also the latest versions of the MX-5, the small two-seater that has almost become a separate brand (€29,995 to €33,895), and the four-seat, four-door coupe that is the rotary-engined RX-8 (€38,995 to €46,895).

First up was the diesel, which was followed by the earlier, non aero-kitted MPS. It is an awful lot of muscle to put in a relatively small hatch and 260 horsepower made the traction control work overtime through most of Castle Combe's fast and bumpy bends.

The RX-8 is a front-engined, rear-drive layout; its nose pointed into the corners and the rear follows - unlike the front-driven hatchback, which was quick but worked its front tires too hard. Each Mazda accessory in it really gives that zoom-zoom feeling.

The Wankel turns out less than the MPS's turbocharged, two-liter piston engine.

In a rotary’s power curve, there are no spikes and the output flows consistently all the way to almost 9,000rpm - unlike the turbo, which has a massive, tire-spinning wallop at nearly 2,000rpm then tails off as the revs rise towards the 7,000rpm maximum.

So although the lap times were about the same, the RX-8 feels almost slow. And without a doubt, it is classier on track.

Hot Models for 2007

Posted On July 1st 2009 By TeRBo. Under Turbo Articles  Tags: Automotive Mazda Parts, Mazda Autoparts, Mazda Oem Parts, Mazda Parts, Mazda Turbo  .

Each year, car companies continue to surprise the public with their new cars. For this year, five car companies/brands are offering hot models.

Mazda Motor Corp. has announced two special editions for the summer season. These are the Tamura and the TS 2-based Mazda 6 Kumano.

Based on the existing TS trim, the Tamura’ is available on five-door Mazda 3 1.6 and Mazda 6 2.0 hatchback petrol models. An exterior sports styling kit is an added equipment plus the savings of up to £3,126 over the equivalent TS models.

Available as a 2.0-litre petrol or diesel five-door, the TS 2-based Mazda 6 ‘Kumano’ exudes upgraded Xenon headlamps and ‘dark brushed finish’ alloy wheels as well as savings of up to £555.

Both equipped with quality Mazda turbo, the two comes free with either mica or metallic paint, and are offered in limited supply. You need to spend £13,795 for the Mazda 3 Tamura and £15,995 for the Mazda 6 Tamura; the petrol version of the Kumano is worth £17,550 while the diesel costs £18,650.

Saab offers its new 9-3 with new styling cues and engines. An all-wheel drive, it also features all-new bodywork in front of the windscreen and many more other detail changes. The availability of four-wheel drive for the first time as well as the introduction of a twin-turbo diesel engine that ensures a class-leading efficiency is among the technical highlights.

The new Saab 9-3 is available as Saloon, Sport Wagon estate or Convertible and will be offered starting September with prices at £18,575 for the 1.8i petrol Airflow Saloon and £34,495 for the 2.8 V6 petrol Aero Convertible.

Honda Motor Corp. is expanding the image of its Accord range by adding the sporty GT and the entry-level SE diesels to the line-up. For September this year, the £20,767 GT will be available with Dark Graphite alloys, a boot spoiler, and other one-of-a-kind exterior trimmings that include an exclusive Premium White Pearl paint option. Further additions include sports suspension, satnav, and Bluetooth as standard equipment.

With advantages like an £18,000 price tag that includes alloys, Bluetooth phone kit and a six-speed gearbox from rivals, the SE highlights value and both cars has Honda's acclaimed 2.2-litre i-CDTi diesel engine.

Daihatsu also has something to offer starting this July: its new Materia mini MPV. It is a small five-seat people carrier that is built similarly like the Renault Modus and Vauxhall Meriva. The single trim level has alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, six-speaker CD stereo, keyless entry and a sliding/reclining 60/40-split rear seat. The metallic paint at £325 is the only factory option. Made powerful by the 1.5-litre petrol engine, the Japanese car maker claims that the car is capable of 46.3mpg combined, and emits 165g/km of CO2.

Prices start at £10,995 and an additional £800 will be required to have an automatic. A three-year unlimited mileage warranty is available with roadside assistance as standard.

Volkswagen, for this year, offers its new Golf. The German car maker has announced pricing for the new Golf estate ahead of its launch in August. The £14,347 entry-level 1.6 S is actually £180 cheaper than the equivalent five-door 1.6 S hatchback; and these figures make the car very intriguing.

The SE and Sportline are the two other available trim levels, which feature three engine options: a 100bhp 1.6-litre petrol, a 103bhp 1.9-litre, and 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesels. At £20,417, one can afford to buy the range-topping 2.0 Sportline with DSG automatic gearbox and diesel particulate filter.

Air conditioning, remote central locking and electric windows are found on the S models. Extras such as alloy wheels and an alarm are featured on all SE cars while sports suspension is the addition on the Sportline trim. With the rear seats up, load space is 505 liters. But when they are folded, load space is at 1,550 liters (loaded to the roof).

So, have you decided which car you would want for this year?
